Share and map shares in ArcaOS command line
(1/1)
ajbrehm:
How can I share folders and map shares in the command line in ArcaOS?
Specifically, what are the equivalents of Windows' net share and net use commands?
Dave Yeo:
Check out smbclient. Try "smbclient --help" and "smbclient --usage".
Hopefully someone else who actually uses it can add more.
Sean Casey:
Try using the "net use" command:
net use [available drive] [\\host\share] [password]
Example:
net use w: \\sentinel\backup password

I did exactly that and I am getting an error 58. That's why I ask.
Apparently error 59 is "The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.".
Sean Casey:
Sorry, Net Use is working on my AOS and thought you might have an issue with syntax. Error 59 is an unexpected network error which often is the result of a security negotiation error.
If you are trying to connect to a Linux samba share, try adding "ntlm auth = yes" in your smb.conf global section, which allows security negotiation to start with NTLMv1 (and above). If it's a Windows share, there's an older post on this forum describing the steps to modify Windows security.
