Odroid H2+

Paul Smedley:
Hi All,

Any thoughts on the likelihood of getting ArcaOS to boot on an Odroid H2+? https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/odroid-h2plus/

Issues I see:
- No CSM support (conformed on forums), so would need access to a UEFI build of ArcaOS
- possibly no NIC support - not sure if the RTL8125B is supported by the ArcaOS drivers - given the references to adding missing linux drivers, I suspect this is a newer chipset.

However - it does have SATA ports in addition to NVMe.

Not quite as small as a RasPi at 110mm x 110mm x 47mm but still would be pretty cool if it worked.

I'm tempted to order one and see how I go, given that I can always redeploy for other purposes within my home LAN if needs be.

Cheers,

Paul

Arca Noae doesn't list support for the network.

I think BSD doesn't have this network driver either, so that doesn't look promising.

Thanks - I found the same in regard to FreeBSD after posting. It seems there is an OpenBSD driver - but I have no idea how similar OpenBSD and FreeBSD drivers are.

If 110mmx110mm is the size your after, there are also Intel NUC's on the market which uses this kind of motherboards, only fitted with more familiar chips. The NUC's comes in different flavours with different processors and different heights in casing. But it still stays a small package. Problem might be USB3 or the video chip set if not build in the processor. The processor varies from a two kernel two a four kernel setup with different  speeds and more memory than OS/2 can handle.

Hi

It would be awesome to run ArcaOS on that board.

NVMe will not work, but I guess that with a SATA HDD that issue will be solved. It would be cool to find out if the M.2 port is one fo does dual that supports NVMe and SATA. If so, maybe a SATA M.2 storage card may work

I have some doubts about ArcaOS UEFI experimental support. For what I see it is working to boot ArcaOS from the HDD (once it is installed), but I have some doubts about booting the USB Flash installer. It seems that the UEFI mode also applies to an OS Botting from a USB Flash/pen drive, so I'm not sure if the board does not have CSM support, if it will ever boot the USB flash ArcaOS installer. I haven't tried a DVD install yet. Any thoughts are welcome.
