The latest release of Fluidsynth

(1/2) > >>

Eugene Tucker:
Just askin  I keep getting this error when I try to upgrade...ERROR with transaction check vs depsolve:readln8.dll is needed by fluidsynth-libs-2.1.4-1.oc01.i686Please report this error at http://trac.netlabs.org/rpm/

How do I get this file or package?

David McKenna:
Eugene,

Readline 8 is still in the experimental repository. Netlabs needs to move that to the release repository to be with Fluidsynth, so definitely report that. If you want you can add the experimental repository to ANPM, but be aware that some things there can be buggy or unfinished (beta), so tread carefully.

Once you get fluidsynth give KO Myung-Hun's KSoftSeq a try - it adds software MIDI playback from the WPS using soundfonts and works pretty well! Only editing is not supported (yet).

Hi,
Try to install readline-devel first
And then update fluidsynth
I see in the spec BuildRequires: readline-devel
So maybe i have to set it as a requires...

Oeps i see its still in Exp from Netlabs.

Time to move it to Release...

Just a heads up: KSoftSeq appears to be able to cause the corruption of some DLLs under \MMOS2\DLL and possibly files in \MMOS2\. What fixed it is restoring MMOS2 DLLs from the AOS install media, I'd work out the specific incriminating ones but I went for the blanket approach due to lacking the time to look into it.

It seems like a promising bit of software but perhaps it needs a bit more work done on the end of stability. I will sit this one out until then.

TeLLie:
Hi,

If all is well the readline is moved to the release.
