The way I read your response I am not 100% certain you understand what Lewis wrote.

What Lewis his opinion is that some people purchased a license of ArcaOS 5.0 and when half a year later the 6 month the subscription expired and did not renew the subscription. Doing that is a user his right. The included OS/2 license remains always valid.

What Lewis mentioned is that he thinks its not far if people to renew the ArcaOS subscription after not having paid for it for 3 years. The customer then buys a new subscription and would access to version 5.0.6.  It seems BTW recently Arca Noae modified the policy and when you let the subscription expire for a long time you pay an extra fee for getting access again.

Well like I said I might have been too sensitive about it.
I understand that the license is still valid. I just don't like painting users who opt not to upgrade as somehow being unfair to others.
I don't have a problem with him opting to charge a larger fee if they decide to upgrade later - it's his business to price as he sees fit.
Just don't like the way he said it, is all.

If you count the first three octets of the IP address it where 500 unqiue IP addreses. Count all 4 octets it where just over 600 unique IP addresses.
Remeber that this is an indication in my opinion but I described that already.

These are the IP addresses I had during only one month this year. Maybe I've overlooked some doublets in the list, maybe I've deleted some unique ones while composing it. But this is only for my xDSL connection. In parallel I had also changing IP addresses on my LTE connection different to that.

Maybe your counting is nearly correct, maybe others have similar changing IPs than me, I don't know. At least you can count all the above IPs as one single user, not 30 ;-).

I would be happy if there are really so much users out there as you think. But excuse me, I still don't believe it.

I donated again. But Bitwise is now part-time for this project. This is a major factor in the practicality of using ArcaOS in a day to day way. The platform would be healthier if we could fund BWW at a full-time rate.

I just checked the Bitwise site and it says "As of 05.08.2021 we collected 46880 €.", which is 96% of the 49000 € goal.
It is a record for the community raising that money and I had taken a lot of effort from all (the community and Bitwise). I really hope to see some public beta soon.

Keep in mind that the 49.000 Euro was an estimate.  More smaller setbacks have been encountered.
But you can follow this on the different Git pages of bitwise works.
Currently a new LIBC version is being worked to fix more issue's for the browser. But we are moving closer.
The clipboard support (copy paste) is next on the schedule. So I am hoping next week somewhere a first beta can be send out to the first group of people. Making the new Otter Browser the first RPM based browser to be installable on OS/2.

It should be noted that you need ACPI 03.23.16 or higher. From what I understand this is because of some update to the highres timer.
Also ArcaOS kernel 14.203 will be required to prevent your system from crashing.  But this will be documented in the readme file.
Note that the webkit dll (about 240 MB) needs to be loaded high. So you need a kernel that supports this!

How can I qualify to be in the first group that receives the beta?. For the last month I have been using the QT5 simple browser for most of my day to day transactions, including my 2 bank and 3 email accounts. Also I have been able to purchase in different stores paying with my credit card.

I run native ArcaOS 5.0.6 and at the most I start my Windows 7 once per week.

And of course I have done modest contributions to the project compatible with my age and income.

The 49.000 Euro was an estimate, in the mean time loads of other DLL's where updated and added to make the new browser.
As for the beta program I am picking up on that again...

Things have slowed down mainly because of me... I have been having some things happen in my personal live that took away my attention from the browser.  Silvan and Herwig have both had to deal with a private issue.

And while funding has flowed into the webshop of BWW donations via OS2VOICE have mostly dried up. Also duo to my private situation but in genereal the level of donations has been dropping. This has resulted in Dmitry also seeking other work. I can only we say, we warned of this impending issue...

Anyway the browser beta is moving forward again!

That's hard to hear, on both aspects: the personal challenges and Dmitry having to look at another income stream. I hope the personal situation for all gets better, for what it's worth.

In the meantime, I noticed that there were some AOO updates made (another thread), so I hit the BWW site and updated my donation for that, and while there I bought a couple of QT5 & browser development units along with a separate GCC porting donation.

Not much, but if that helps even the tiniest bit, it was worth it!

Bitwise works is completely free to write down a new set of development goals for the Qt5 and new browser port and call it like "phase 2", set a funding goal, time frame and request donations for it. But it will be important for them to release a working beta version of the browser to keep the community motivated and show that good things were produced with the first "49000 €" raised.

About setting a new goal: I could image that it is difficult to port this application in a stepped approach, for example with reduced functionality as an initial drop and then adding things. That is possibly more work than porting it all at once.

Effectively the Otter Browser has been ported. One optional things BWW was thinking of adding (when the USB stack of AN has all support needed) was to look at adding webcam support to the browser. (The browser needs to know how to talk to which device driver).

The goal of currently limited beta test is to improve stability, it still crashes the browser and the stability needs to be improvement from my perspective.

Here, after the last big update to netlabs.rel, my system became very unstable. Lowering the Virtualaddresslimit helped but I still see way more crashes in SeaMonkey and other things hanging. This makes me wonder if the instability is library related.
I also noticed trying to build the Simplebrowser that it uses -fpmath=sse to compile. I had to remove that from the Mozilla builds as it created a weird issue  in nsIdleServices when it took the code path when the screensaver wasn't installed. That was a 100% CPU issue, repeatable after the same time passed. Compiler optimizations can introduce bugs.
