Remove Audio Adapter - Warp 4 - VM

(1/2) > >>

Martin Iturbide:
Hi

I have a Warp 4 VM (Virtualbox) with the SoundBlaster driver and I had changed it to Uniaud with Intel HD.
Now it produce sounds, but I think it has two audio adapters registered. I had selected Uniaud as the default device, system audio produces sound, but does not work when I double click wav files.

Do I have to remove the old SoundBlaster entry from somewhere (INI files?) ?

Regards

 Hi Martin,

The Multimedia Setup facility for choosing default devices in Warp 4 has never worked correctly for me. Lars' USB audio drivers add a new page to the 'System' tab that allows choosing the default device that does work. You could try adding the USB audio drivers and use that to choose the default.

If you want to remove the SoundBlaster, you can also edit the MMPM2.INI file by removing entries for the SoundBlaster, but it can be tricky. Once edited, you have to <ctrl><alt><del> to reboot (NOT a regular reboot or shutdown) to make changes stick. Be aware that improper editing of MMPM2.INI could prevent the computer from booting, so be sure to have a copy of the original MMPM2.INI file in case it goes wrong...

Or first remove it by selecting 0 and then reinstall the new driver.

 Hi Andreas,

For some reason that has never worked for me, but it may be related to the driver install itself not being set up for it properly? One thing I just noticed is that UniAud and the USB audio drivers all have an 'uninstal.exe' program in their respective folders under 'C:\MMOS2\INSTALL\...'. Martin could check and see if there is a folder there for the SoundBlaster and does it have an 'uninstal.exe'?

Regards,

Lars:
David, you are right,
selecting zero devices does not properly clean up MMPM2.INI. It needs manual rework.
But it's easier for me to do the actual cleanup than to explain how to do it.
