Hi

The DOS section is almost done /pub/dos
I just need to relocate these last 7 files.

What is "lsl.zip"? It says "Dos Client Message File", is it some kind of communication software? Serial?

Copyright 1990-1994, Novel, Inc. Maybe a Netware TSR or such. Looking, this page, https://support.novell.com/techcenter/articles/ana19960502.html references a slightly newer one from 1996 though mostly lsl32, the 32 bit version, and here is a PDF on it, https://www.novell.com/documentation/developer/lancomp/dos_psta/dos_pstack.pdf.
Seems lsl stands for Link Support Layer.

Hi Again.

Getting into again the reorganizing again, I will put some efforts to finish
"/pub/windows".

One with thing with "/pub/dos", I don't know where to put dos5iso.zip which it says is the "IBM DOS 5.0 ISO font supplement"

And I'm going little by little trying to include all the OS/2 public (Freeware/Shareware/OpenSource/Demos) software I can find on hobbes. That is a long and ongoing thing.

There is this rule we set at the beginning or the reorganization , "Hobbes will only maintain the latest version of the software, and some exceptions apply."  I still have also the crazy dream to have a secondary repository with new and old version of all OS/2 Software following the same directory structure of hobbes. I'm doing that on my hard drive, and I published a backup on 2023-01-15. (https://archive.org/download/OS2FileRepo_2023-01-15). But the energy is running low these months  ;D

Hi Guys.

Do you think that hobbes should start supporting .7z and .rpm files just like now supports .zip and .wpi ?

Well, rpm is easy enough to zip up, foo_02_rpm.zip. Not sure about 7z, though for large files it is better.

If Hobbes would support .rpm files, it should be in a repository that I can add to ANPM or my YUM repository list.

It would have to be set up as a repository and have all the needed metadata.
Easiest is to set up a local rpm repository for loose rpm's.

I'm not sure how a local repository would help. If someone uploads a .RPM to Hobbes, how would my local repository know about the new file?

You'd have to populate the local repository by hand.

Hello.

"RPM on Hobbes": It didn't mean that Hobbes will turn into a RPM server, but to store some .rpm files that are on the wild. But Neils questioning is interesting. How useful is to have a .rpm package outside a RPM server? You can install it manually, but downloading the file, but the convenience of having RPM/yum to list, download the file and let you know any update is not there.

But on the other side we are starting to have some .rpm for OS/2 software on the wild that is not on the netlabs rpm server. (Ex Featherpad, Feathernotes). Should it be easier to upload the .rpm files on the wild on Netlabs? I don't know the process of uploading rpm files on netlabs.

That would mean uploading a .rpm file to rpm.netlabs.org and placing it in release/00/i386/i686 (for the i686 architecture in the release repository) or placing it in experimental/00/i386/i686 (for the i686 architecture in the experimental repository). rpm files for (say) the pentium4 architecture should be placed in release/00/i386/pentium etc.

FYI: About the reorganization:
-  /pub/windows
- /pub/dos
Are now organized trying to follow the same directory structure like /pub/os2.  If someone has some Win-OS2 or DOS-VDM software that feels that should be includes there, please let me know.

Hello.

I have this problem extracting this file:
https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/system/patches/atm16.zip

Is it corrupted? I tried another from os2site but it has the same issue.

Extracted fine here, ATM16.DLL and ATM16DLL.TXT. Don't have Acrobat version 2.0 to test it.
Want a rezip of it?

Yes Dave, thanks, please rezip the file and upload it here.

Seems that the zip software that I have at hand can not unzip it.
