Freetype/2 is a driver based on freetype which is a library
Yes, I would put it in /pub/os2/system/drivers/freetype or let it in misc if you want to keep that or in /pub/os2/system/drivers/fonts if that makes sense.

Hi

I will keep the freetype stuff on "/pub/os2/system/drivers/misc". Thanks.

I was wondering, why the sever is called Hobbes? because of Thomas Hobbes (Philosopher), or was it for Calvin and Hobbes (comic strip) ? Just in case Hobbes (From Calvin and Hobbes) is based also based in Thomas Hobbes.

“The Mathom-house it was called; for anything that Hobbits had no immediate use for, but were unwilling to throw away, they called a mathom. Their dwellings were apt to become rather crowded with mathoms, and many of the presents that passed from hand to hand were of that sort.”

Hi

The  "/pub/os2/util/disk" directory is done. I'm moving to "/pub/os2/util/system"

Feedback is welcome if I'm missing something.

Hi

I think I'm pretty happy with:
- /pub/os2/util/disk
- /pub/os2/util/file
- /pub/os2/util/system

Now I will check the other stuff on /util
- Archiver, Convert, encrypt, font, printer.

Hi

Just in case, I would like someone with more experience on BBS that can help thinking the best way to organize the BBS related files.  I know what a BBS is, but I had never connected or set up one.

Currently Hobbes has:
- "/pub/os2/apps/comm/bbs" which I need to reorganize, since I think many of those are utils and not apps.
- "/pub/os2/server/bbs" The reorganized BBS server applications.
- "/pub/os2/util/BBS" the reorganized BBS utilities.

I'm not happy yet on how to reorganize this, because of my lack of knowledge of what is Door and what is Maximus. Should there have their own directory? or should be all in "/pub/os2/util/BBS".

Maximus is a BBS system,  and "door"s are BBS interfaces to external programs.

Hi

I have a new question here.
Checking the "/pub/os2/util/archiver" I found there is a lot of UUEncode/UUDecode software. ("uuencoding is a form of binary-to-text encoding that originated in the Unix programs uuencode and uudecode for encoding binary data for transmission in email systems.")

I don't think that they belong to "/pub/os2/util/archiver", maybe it will be better "/pub/os2/util/encrypt" or maybe setting their own directory category.

What do you think?

I think their own catagory would be best.

Not in /pub/os2/util/encrypt.

Encryption is meant to make information inaccessible for somebody who is not the intended recipient of that information.
While encoding only changes the format in which information is stored.

Yes that's better. But unfortunately another dir (encode)? must be added then.

There are already too much. I would prefer /pub/os2/util/file/encode instead of /pub/os2/util/encode. Many more dirs of util could be moved below file, but it's a lot of work.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think I will prefer "/pub/os2/util/encode" to try to don't expand the directory tree more deeper.

Hi

I think that "/pub/os2/util/convert" is the last thing to reorganize on /util.
I'm getting close for finish this phase.

Hi

I'm done with "/pub/os2/util/convert".

It puts me on a position that I'm almost ready with "/pub/os2/apps" and "/pub/os2/utils".

As a note to self, I'm not happy and missing what to do with:
- /pub/os2/apps/comm/bbs
- /pub/os2/util/network/lansrv
- /pub/os2/util/network/tcpip
- /pub/os2/util/network/ndis
- /pub/os2/util/network/netware
