Hi

There are these three files that I guess are somewhat related. os2nosv4.zip, pmnos11x.zip, pmnos1dx.zip. Those are ports of KA9Q NOS, according to wikipedia "KA9Q, also called KA9Q NOS or simply NOS, was a popular early implementation of TCP/IP and associated protocols for amateur packet radio systems and smaller personal computers connected via serial lines."

I have no idea exactly how it works. Is it a full TCP/IP implementation, or is only for serial communication? What about the amateur packet radio systems part?
I still don't get what the software does.

I think it enabled connecting a radio to the computer via serial line and then doing TCPIP over the link. So with no wired (or regular wireless) internet, you could have a slow connection over shortwave or which ever amateur frequencies where the licensing allowed.
So, I' assume a full TCP/IP implementation operating wirelessly over an amateur band.
Maybe put it in the same place as PPP, SLURP etc programs go

Thanks for the continuos feedback.

Also, I found some rexx scripts for "text filtering" and/or "string search" that I'm not sure where to put.
Like rxmulch2.zip, quotword.zip, rxedit03.zip, textfilt.zip

Everything is on "/pub/os2/dev/rexx" but I think it can be improved. Maybe no "dev/tools/???"

Any suggestion on how the "????" directory should be named?

Thanks for the lastest comment Dave. I did it that way. /pub/os2/dev/tools/text

I keep checking slowly that Hobbes contains the latest version of each software. First I'm comparing it to OS2.site/sw. I'm slowly checking each directory and compare the files to the one on hobbes and updating the latest version to hobbes if I found one.

And as a colateral I'm also starting to structure the /java /windows /dos directories while some related program appears.

Help is welcome on:
1) If you find some freeware/shareware/public/open program that is missing on hobbes, let me know.
2) If you have a better text description for each directory on hobbes, also let me know to request the change to the archiver.

Hi

I took a backup of my 31GB public files repository on Archive.org.
https://archive.org/download/OS2FileRepo_2023-01-15

This is similar what I have in hobbes, with the difference that I'm also preserving the older versions of the software.
It is part of the idea to have a eventually a different repository with current and older versions of OS/2 software. It is very draft, but I wanted to have a public backup, as a second backup, just in case.

Hi

Today I got this doubt on where should hobbes kept the "Pre-recorded Demos for products". Those are recorded demos, that is an executable that shows you some multimedia presentation, it may have sound and allow you to make some clicks, but it is not a working demo or a product.

Currently I have those at "/pub/os2/games/toys", which I don't think it is the best place.
The files are: OS2WarpDemo_1995-02-28.zip, WordPerfect_5-2_Demo.zip.

On the DOS files I preferred to move them out of "games" and have those on "/pub/dos/apps/toys".

What do you think?

What you describe sounds like a "product presentation" or "product introduction". Perhaps in /pub/os2/info/marketing ? (already exists on Hobbes)

Hi

I still going "little by little" with the Hobbes reorganization.

But now I want to put more focus on check that Hobbes has the latest version of Freeware/Shareware/Open/Public/Free OS/2 related files. If someone was some suggestions of what is missing please let me know.

Hi

Maybe you noticed that I had been reorganizing the Java section (/pub/java) using the similar structure of /pub/os2/
The idea is to have Freeware/Shareware/Open/Public/Free java software that runs on our current versions of Java, and try to include some .cmd that gives the user a first hand help to run the app on OS/2.

It is fun for the moment, and Joop's Java website had been of great use. Thanks a lot to Joop.
