Playing around with my sons cheap expensive keyboard and this command line,
hidapitester.exe --vidpid 04D9/A0CD -l 64 --open --read-input-forever
keyscans seem to work until I played with the fnc key, then it stopped working and eventually returned -1 byte and closed the device. Keyboard needs unplugging and plugging back in to come back to life.
For those following along, HID stands for human interface device and includes keyboards, mice and joysticks, which all seem to have similar behaviour when it comes to drivers.
