Strange that the GIF works, I'd expect it to be converted to BMP at some point on the way to being a desktop background anyways.

Hi Chris,
I have a vague memory of some Desktop background BMP's etc causing problems. You might want to move them all out of the way and see if OS2OOOC.DLL still crashes.

Remember that OS/2 and Windows BMP files have differences. Cant remember what they are at present as most of my stuff, including my OS/2 computers are packed up. PMView from memory can save a graphics file to either format, I had to save some Windows BMP files to OS/2 format to use as background images.
Cheers

Yes, Chris did say,
Quote
Not any of that image, irrespective of whether I saved them as OS/2 1.x or OS/2 2.x (with or without RLE encoding). It just choked.
As did that image as a JPG. I didn't try a number of options here.
Could it be the colour depth? If I get bored I'll try.
However, saving it as a GIF did allow it to work.

And later even 8 bit failed.
File does seem to mostly understand OS/2 bitmaps, failing to get the horizontal size in 2.x ones
Code: [Select]
W:\OS2\BITMAP>file BIGBLU.BMP
BIGBLU.BMP: PC bitmap, OS/2 1.x format, 287 x 287

W:\OS2\BITMAP>file DTOP1680.BMP
DTOP1680.BMP: PC bitmap, OS/2 2.x format, 1680 x 0

W:\OS2\BITMAP>file DTOP1920.BMP
DTOP1920.BMP: PC bitmap, OS/2 2.x format, 1920 x 0

W:\OS2\BITMAP>file GARDEN.BMP
GARDEN.BMP: PC bitmap, OS/2 1.x format, 1024 x 768

Yum install file

Mi biggest loss was source to a fully self balancing, multinode tree, database engine I wrote. I only have printout of half of the code. It was written in C and was very tight so it would be very hard to reconstruct.
