« on: December 13, 2022, 04:51:29 pm »
And while its still early days we might soon have an alternative to Thunderbird asn an email client.
Its still need more work to get it done, but there is being worked on https://github.com/equaeghe/trojita.
An open source email client.

Hopefully next wear we can release a beta version of Trojita.

And by the way, what is the current status of browser development? Will there also be a beta in a year? Is there still a plan for the Otter Browser?

Thunderbird and SeaMonkey have a setting (default?) to download IMAP mail for off-line use. I see one not very used IMAP account here has a 33MB inbox already.
Lightweight sounds good with the resources used by Dooble, OTOH, the mail client looks too simple. How it is for filters has to be seen, and what we are currently missing is OATH2 support, including MS's latest bastardization of it.
It is also a KDE app, so will need stuff ripped out.

Nope sorry. Not planned. Remember its being ported by us. We do not develop this email client.
We looked at updating PMMAIL at OS/2 VOICE. But we do not have the human resources to update PMMAIL.

I explained that at Orlando Warpstock (7th of November I think it was). Currently its worked on upgrading QT to latest version of the 5.12.x version.
The main issue before moving to beta status of the browser is because we need to resolve the frequent crashes of the browser. That is also being worked.

When Dooble is stable then BWW (Dmitry) might consider to look at the Otter Browser again. But first Dooble needs to be stable.

Thunderbird (and SeaMonkey) can copy messages from IMAP to the local drive. You do not need a POP3 client to save messages locally.
