NUC (Next Unit of Computing) - Another quick question

(1/1)

ivan:
I have a need for a very small portable computer that will run ArcaOS.  I saw this at a friend's place but he is running windows rubbish and won't change so I thought I'd ask for the forum members views.

Martin Iturbide:
Hi Ivan

It is always hard to know the compatibility of it without the details of the hardware, like having a pci.exe hardware report.

I can not say for sure if it will run ArcaOS. My comments are:
- If it does not has CMS mode, you will have to wait for ArcaOS 5.1 with UEFI support
- Does it has Wifi? Almost for sure will not work.
- Not sure about Ethernet, there had been some reports of newer machines Ethernet that may not work.

A silly idea may be, ask you friend to borrow it for a week, get a NVMe M.2 card, swap it and install ArcaOS 5.0.x there.
Here it is some video of the inside of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4h-IFRF0To
If it boots and install, get the pci.exe report from it.

(wow, I just found out that M.2 Wifi cards exists)

You know this thread - https://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php/topic,2948.msg33308.html#msg33308 ?

No clue if it is still available.

Btw. I think a more meaningful subject wouldn't hurt ;-)

Hi Andy B,

I should say I want one without an Intel processor hence my looking at this one with the Ryzen processor.
