HPFS386.IFS

I need Hpfs386   for testing.

I have got:
 - C:\IBM386FS\HPFS386.IFS
 - C:\IBM386FS\HPFS386.INI

[FILESYSTEM]
USEALLMEM = YES
LANROOT   = C:\IBMLAN
MAXHEAP   = 512
CACHESIZE= 4096

and added  to my config.sys:
   IFS=C:\IBM386FS\HPFS386.IFS  /A:*

but on boot  it said:
  HFS0019 There is not enough memory for the 386 HPFS cache and heap

pls, advise how to get it working ?

I am not sure but I think that HPFS386.IFS does not go together with the EARLYMEMINIT keyword in config.sys.
But if you remove that keyword, the rest of the system might run into boot problems...

I also used to use hpfs386 in pre-jfs times, but after the appearance of jfs it lost sense. It was a long time ago and I forgot all the details.

I still use it.  OS/2 binaries are tiny so the smaller HPFS partition size limitation isn't an issue with me.  Performance is also fine on modern hardware.  I did play with a JFS partition once, but the backup software/agent I use (ARCserve) couldn't see the file system. 

I still remember the day back in '94 when I downloaded the HPFS386 files from Compuserve, using Golden Compass, to install on my Warp 3 system's Compaq 386/20 60MB hard drive.
