Bigicons
Martin Iturbide:
Hi David.
Check it out if you can upload files here. I had updated the upload size on the forum.
Regards
David Graser:
Thanks Martin for every thing you do for this platform!
This is the yellow theme.
Move or copy folder to your
<drive>:\sys\icons\ directory
Edit you config.sys file
REM out the original Set statement
REM SET BIGICONS= <DRIVE>:\SYS\ICONS\BIGICONS
Now add the following line:
SET BIGICONSPATH= <DRIVE>:\SYS\ICONS\BIGICONS_YELLOW
Save and reboot.
Now go to you Desktop > System Settings > Worplace Shell, select and look for the Icon Size tab at the upper far right.
Check the Dynamic Icons box and over on the left the size you want and restart Desktop
If some folders don't change, you may have to reset the icons for the folder. The same goes for program icons. Once done, you will not have to do this again.
Not too often the desktop will come up with no icons. Just restart the desktop and everything is fine. Might be some kind of timing issue.
If for whatever reason the desktop acts crazy, un-select the bigicons checkbox in the
System Setup > Workplace Shell > Icon Size tab on the far at the top, and then restart desktop,
Or you can just REM out the path statement in the cofig.sys.
When I had major problems with the bigicon.txt, I could always reach the Icon Size tab to deselect and restart Desktop.
Still doing fine tuning on the Black set
It is nice to change themes with just a couple of changes in the config.sys

David Graser:
Uploaded the black folder theme:
It is so simple to change between the folder sets.
In your config.sys, add SET statements for each set.
EX.
rem SET BIGICONSPATH=E:\sys\icons\BIGICONS_YELLOW
rem SET BIGICONSPATH=E:\sys\icons\BIGICONS_RED
SET BIGICONSPATH=E:\sys\icons\BIGICONS_BLACK
You just REM out the statements for the sets that are not being used. To switch, REM out the one you were using and un REM the one you want to switch to, save, and reboot. The new set comes up after your reboot. Continuing to test. Everything is great so far.
David Graser:
I cleaned up the file cabinet theme I had done months earlier and made it a bigicon theme.
Remember it is so easy to check out and replace if not liked. Just a couple of statements in the config.sys
Rich Walsh:
David, I installed your 'BIGICONS_YELLOW' package and got a pleasant surprise when I opened some WPS folders and notebooks: XWP's window-list widget shows your icons rather than the originals. As expected, windows created by other apps retain their original icon.
Looking at 'bigicons.txt', I spotted these errors:
- the very first line is still missing. It should be "[SYSTEM]"
- lines 549 and 569 are supposed to be comments but they're missing the leading semicolon
If you're having problems with the size of the file (and you really shouldn't), there are two things you can do. As mentioned previously, if you don't supply an icon for something, get rid of its entry (e.g."WPSafeCapsule"). The other is to remove most of the comments. The cacheing system is very crude and does not remove them, so each time the app has to find something it has to plow through them. The fewer and the shorter, the better. I'd love to fix this stuff but it isn't my app and I don't have the rights to distribute it, so the best I can do is offer workarounds based on knowledge of the code.
BTW... you mentioned instability after restarting the WPS too many times. I was skeptical because there are days when I restart it 20-30 times in a session and have no problem. However, since working on this and my own Dynamic Icons-related project, I see what you mean. Yet another problem in need of fixin'...
