VirtualBox: Can't copy files to a shared folder under ArcaOS guest
Martin Iturbide:
Hello
We have two VirtualBox Addons, the official ones (7.1.0 ) from the VBox project and VBoxAddtions-os2-x86-5.0.51.r217 from Valery (Netlabs).
I like Valery's version because it has WPS integration (yes, with a lot of warning when you copy a file that seems to come from the WPS). Valery's version has the issues that David and Neil are pointing. Valery's created "vboxfs.ifs" (not to be confused with vboxsf.ifs"
I was hoping to create a ticket on the VirtualBox site requesting the WPS integration and try to take Valery's version for inspiration.
I'm not sure if Valery's the full source code is here: https://trac.netlabs.org/vbox/browser#tags/5.0.51/src

Neil Waldhauer:
I have opened a thread on the VirtualBox forum, and have received some advice
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=112408
They say it's much better to use file sharing. To me, that means using SAMBA server to share OS/2 virtual hard disk. That way, the native browser, word processor, etc can use the OS/2 storage and my OS/2 programs can get at the resulting files.
Shared folders would be easier to use, but making them work fully seems to be difficult. Both versions of the OS/2 Additions are open source. The one Valery created is on Netlabs, and the Oracle is presumably available from Oracle.
David McKenna:
Just installed VirtualBox 7.2.0 and this problem has been fixed in the new additions. Thanks Martin for reporting in github and thanks Knut for fixing it!

David, thanks for the heads up about this new release.
Knut is awesome: https://github.com/VirtualBox/virtualbox/issues/98#event-19124240227
I will try out the new host and the new guest addons today.

Hello
In my case the problem had been fixed. It no longer Drag+Ctrl creates a zero file on the host. But the WPS message warning about the EAs (that is not part of Vbox) now shows up. I can live with it but I hope that it can be turned off.
From the side of VirtualBox 7.2.0 on the Windows Host, I had to uninstall the older VirtualBox and install 7.2 because I was getting an "Make sure the Kernel Module was loaded..." error when running any VM. But now it seems to works fine.
Regards
