Resource Compiler - Joke

(1/2) > >>

Martin Iturbide:
Hello

There was a discussion on a mailing list commenting the issue that we have several IBM Resource Compilers that works in a different ways.

I was going to suggest standardizing everything by improving the open source Wacom Resource Compiler (wrc) to have the final resource compiler for the platform, but I remembered this joke.

There are too few coders for OS/2 for this situation to be real.  :) And standardizing the resource compiler is a good idea.

That's no joke. That's exactly what will happen if you invent a new wrc version.

Well, I'm afraid that would be no joke either. Actually though, I think we could use a single resource compiler.
What would be the standard? We may start from the latest WRC, but where do we want to go?

(Clearly I'm no expert in this part. So bear with me if I touch an already clear point.)

wrc works for many a resource but is missing some keywords so more complex resources need a specific rc. The discussion that Martin referred to was that wrc is missing the SS_AUTOSAVE keyword.
This could be fixed but lack of resources says it won't be fixed.
