Job Scheduling
(1/1)
Dan Eicher:
Last week I installed locate.
Today, I went in to use it was warned - the database was more than 8 days old.
I use crontab on linux, and at on windows.
What's the preferred method of job scheduling on ArcaOS?
Dave Yeo:
There are ports of chron and similar. The ArcaOS way would be to create a program object for your program, open the properties and go to the schedule tab and set the time and how often to open it, weekly in your case I assume.
Dariusz Piatkowski:
I use CRON/2...pretty easy setups:
--- Code: ---┌────────────────────────────────────┐
│ C R O N / 2 │
├────────────────────────────────────┤
│ A UN*X CRON clone for OS/2 │
│ with client/server networking │
│ │
│ version 1.4n │
│ │
│ Copyright (C) 1993 Bob Hood │
│ 2001 Detlef Graef │
│ 2015-19 Yuri Dario│
└────────────────────────────────────┘
--- End code ---
Dan Eicher:
Ok, I'm sure I could make cron work (we have been friends for 40 years), but since my primary reason for investment in Arca was to re-familiarize myself with os/2 and learn all the new arac goodness, I'll try the program object way first.
Thanks Dariusz and Dave.
