Video memory cannot be assigned to 32-bit address!
« on: January 03, 2026, 02:26:25 am »
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X13 gen 2, and while I didn't get it to run ArcaOS, I was curious if it could be done.

It can't. (see attachment) Actually, it can. See correction below.

Hello and happy new Year!

it works for me with a x13 G4 (AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 7840U with Radeon 780M). 1.4 Gb Ram is accessible. Unfortunately I dont get any USB Ethernet Adapter running (Moschip, ASIX). Both worked on previos ArcaOS installations on a different Computer. They are recognized but dont get an IP assigned, Static IP works but doesn't get connection to the router.

Mo,

The NIC driver needs to be located after certain other drivers in the CONFIG.SYS file, and gives that exact symptom if it is not. Run 'testlog generic' from a command line and in the file created scroll down to the 'Config.sys' section and see if it lists any errors.

I need to correct my previous post. I changed the BIOS setting for video RAM from 512 MB to 256 MB, and ArcaOS can now run on the computer. The latest MultiMac32-E1000B driver supports the Ethernet port.

A Lenovo adapter is required to connect an Ethernet cable because the laptop is too thin to support a normal Ethernet connection.

That's good as I"m sure I did hear of some where the frame buffer couldn't be put in low memory.
How much ram is accessible? mem /v

Hi Neil.

A Lenovo adapter is required to connect an Ethernet cable because the laptop is too thin to support a normal Ethernet connection.

Is that the "ThinkPad Ethernet Extension Adapter Gen 2" ? I use one o this on the Thinkpad T14s ethernet.

For my Lenovo Thinkpad X13 Gen 2, the "Accessible to system" memory reported by mem /v is 2267 MB

And this is a "ThinkPad Ethernet Extension Adapter Gen 2" I am using for Ethernet. The X13 gen 2 and the T14s gen 2 share a hardware manual, so they are very similar.

I also have the Lenovo Thinkpad USB-C Doc Gen 2, so I plan to learn a lot more about USB support under ArcaOS.
