This is again a small report about the OS/4 replacement krnl together with its own subset of base drivers on fresh hardware.

OS/4 setup:

• OS/4 SMP kernel Revision 4182 and 4192
• OS/4 acpi4.sys
• OS/4 os4apic.psd
• OS/4 clock03.sys
• OS/4 screen03.sys
• OS/4 sddhelp.sys
• Scitech SNAP 3.1.8

OS/2 setup:

• IBM SMP kernel 14.106
• acpi.psd 3.22
• Scitech SNAP 3.1.8

Hardware setup:

• Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H
• CPU: AMD A10-6700T APU (Richland) 45W
• Mem: 2GB DDR3-1866
• Graphics: ATI Radeon X550 PCI-E

For the test we use the SNAP graphics driver on fully supported hardware on both setups. The ACPI setup was not an easy one, the acpi.psd doesn't work in APIC mode but acpi4.sys together with os4apic.psd are working in APIC mode. The PIC mode however works only with the ibm kernel/acpi.psd and not with OS/4 kernel/os4apic.psd.
The replacement sddhelp.sys is required when using the acpi4.sys driver or the wps will just hang on startup. The speed of the SNAP driver was the same when using the OS/4 acpi4.sys/sddhelp.sys compared to the acpi.psd and SNAPs own ssdhelp.sys. The Improvement of the free memory detection was already in previous krnl builds and system can boot without the MEMLIMIT parameter in os2ldr.ini

During the time of testing the following issues occured:

• OS/4 os2ldr: loading of the original IBM kernel stopped working, its required to use the IBM os2ldr to load the krnl (setting in os2ldr.ini)
• Trap 13 in case of no free physical memory and the krnl starts swapping and extends the swapper file
• Trap 12 after a client connects to the vnc server and the mouse is used for any actions like moving windows or clicking on controls/buttons

It would be nice when other users with the same issues on their systems can report it here or directly to the development team.

just want to let you know that the vnc server issue causing a Trap has been fixed in one of the latest december 2014 releases. It was hard to track so its nice that it could be fixed, thanks to the team.
