Open Sourced Software
« on: September 04, 2014, 11:22:51 pm »
As an aside, and no doubt to your great pleasure, Martin, Peter Moylan is releasing his software as open source, GPL licenced. He has uploaded, and will upload future releases, to Hobbes.
I can recommend Peters software and his support of it without any reservations. Wonder if Brian Havard would do the same for FC/2?

Doubt so: Peter's software was freeware (now open source), while Brain's FC is shareware.

To quote the readme from ftpserver 1.33
Quote
Last updated 2009-11-15
Current version: 1.33

This is shareware, but unregistered copies are not crippled.
For more details, read FtpServer.INF.

It has slowly become more free. IIRC it started as pure shareware, then was free for individual use and then what he called optional shareware and now GPL.

Anyways this is off topic for this thread and should have been its own thread.

I slipped the topic. - I think I'm finally doing this right :)

I'm very happy that Peter Moylan released his software as open source - GPL.

I will add his software to the Github collection (https://github.com/os2world) soon. But I still need to finish /dev/rexx and dev/util which is taking me some time. Once I finish uploading the source code I found there I will go after more pin-pointed sources and try to update the repositories that told me that had outdated source code.

Like always, any help is welcome. The idea is that this repository belongs to everybody on this community and github gives a lot of functionality to collaborate.  You don't even need me or need to be my friend :)  You can fork all the repositories you want to make the changes/test/experiments you want with the source code. Don't be afraid, you can not break anything :)
