Sound is broken with the 24esr branch as they removed the library that we used for sound and until someone ports the new library...
The new library is libcubeb,  git://github.com/kinetiknz/cubeb.git if anyone wants to port it.

Has anyone actually got a trp file from any of the 24.8.1 based browsers including Firefox 24.8.1?

What I've done is reinstate sydneyaudio into the tree and posted the patch to the non-working sound issue on the bitwise git project page https://github.com/bitwiseworks/mozilla-os2/issues/70 and built SeaMonkey for test purposes which is available at https://bitbucket.org/dryeo/dry-comm-esr24/downloads (note no zip extension as my library from where I uploaded it doesn't like zip files).
If I don't get any feedback from Bitwise I'll upload a test build of Firefox but I'd prefer Bitwise to upload the build to keep things simple.
Probably be Christmas before I get around some bandwidth

I know you're bandwith challenged but I'd really like to try a FF build with audio and exceptq support enabled....

Dmik just committed a fix for exceptq whereas my fix only seemed to work for SM and TB. I'll do a test build with audio support and make it a nightly and see about uploading it. Hopefully Bitwise will beat me to it.

I've updated SeaMonkey and Thunderbird to the same code level as the Bitwise beta3 plus with libsydneyaudio for HTML5 audio support. I've also built Firefox from the same code base with nightly branding to differentiate it from the Bitwise build. All are missing the zip extension due to rules at my library whose connection I used and the nightly had to be uploaded to bitbucket due to github not accepting uploads without an extension.
As usual if problems are found, test against the Bitwise release and these have the same requirements.

I've also rebuilt Firefox 10.0.12, linking against libc066 plus the latest high memory fix and a fix for the crash when no printer was installed, it is a 7z archive and also needs the extension fixed.
