[Uniaud] No sound even if audio card is recognized

<< < (4/4)

xynixme:
Almost no sound, this time (eCS 1.2, SoundMax, desktop). The hardware should be fine. With W7 the sound is fine. A <Alt-F1>restore didn't help. Cold and warm reboots don't help. The master volume (and all (?) other ones) seems to be 100%, but it sounds like far less than 10%. It's almost mute. AFAICT it happened quite suddenly, without an obvious reason. There was no intentional change of any multimedia component. What's probably wrong?

Ian Manners:
What do the lines  starting with PARMSTRING= under the various headings in x:\mmos2\mmpm2.ini say?

ie,
PARMSTRING=BALANCE=50,VOL=80,INPUT=LINE,OUTPUT=SPEAKER
PARMSTRING=BALANCE=50,VOL=80,INPUT=LINE,GAIN=70,OUTPUT=SPEAKER

etc
ensure the VOL= is set to something rational, especially if you have GAIN.

PS, boot in maintence mode or from another source to make changes to mmpm2.ini

xynixme:
At the moment the system is mute, so no system sounds at all (monitor volume 100%, the "expected" bad result was being able to hear something). I'll even consider a reinstall, albeit that's hard without a working CD drive.

The setting below is the only string which matched the search string "VOL=".

"Solved": last time W7 still produced normal sounds, but now it doesn't anymore. Probably a hardware problem.
