Google deleting OS/2 videos - OS/2 NT Shootout
« on: May 21, 2015, 12:32:52 am »
Hi

I was notified that Google deleted a YouTube account and several videos related to the "OS/2 NT Shootout".

I just checked youtube and in fact some videos was removed:
Check: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=OS%2F2+NT

The videos I can not found anymore are:
- Windows NT & OS/2 at Comdex 1993
- OS/2 vs NT
- HAL-PC 1993 OS/2 Vs. NT Shootout

This videos had been removed with the following message: "This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated. "

Does anybody has any idea where to ask the reasons why Google removed this videos?

Usually DMCA take down notices, perhaps from MS or even from a record label if they had background music. Google has a policy of honouring take down notices. It does sound strange that the uploaders account was terminated, perhaps there was other stuff he kept uploading that more obviously violated someones copyright.

There used to be a site when you can search the violation. The issue is that Google is not giving details why this videos was removed and who claimed any copyright violation if applies.

I will check around.

I'm searching on :

I can not find anything related. It does not looks like a DMCA take down because YouTube usually post that the copyright has been claimed by someone (BMG, Sony music, etc). Here it just says that the account was terminated.

Now I checked better and this does not looks like a DCMA takedown, but it is an account whipping.

Google removed all the Jason Scott account and removed all his google stuff:
https://web.archive.org/web/20140514032012/http://www.youtube.com/user/jasonscottpage

The videos that interest the community and was removed was (the other I listed was only watchlists) :
- 1993 HAL-PC OS/2 NT Shootout (Uncut)
- Installing OS/2 Warp 4 (Merlin)
- Installing OS/2 Warp 3.0
- What happened to OS/2? Computer Chronicles (1993)
- OS/2 Warp introduction on Computer Chronicles (199
- OS/2 vs NT Shootout Part 5
- OS/2 vs NT Shootout Part 4

For the moment Jason has no idea why his account was removed.

The OS/2 VS. NT Shootout (1993) 2 hour video by HAL-PC it is also available on the Internet Archive.

The users couldn't watch the movies on youtube and downloaded the videos to harddrives. (using ssyoutube and other services)

So, let's ask people accumulate this movies in one place.

can you show the list of titles and v parameters?  youtube/watch?v=xxxxxxx

so the users will find the files by filenames.
