Request for help on a proper English description of Agena
« on: June 24, 2015, 10:23:59 pm »
Hello,

I have been publishing an eCS/OS2 version of my programming language Agena for quite some time.

To sum up its capabilities, I currently use the following sentence:

`Agena is an easy-to-learn procedural programming language designed to be used in science, scripting, and many other applications.`

However, `scripting ... applications` sounds very "Germish" to me. Is there a better wording ?

Thank you,

Alex from Bonn

Applications sounds fine in English and if by scripting (I haven't actually looked at Agena) you mean an interpretative language that is suitable for writing a few lines to eg parse a file or such, think shell scripts or REXX then it's also fine.

By the way, Alex, would you like to remove global variables from the language?
And add "out" and "ref" keywords to procedure arguments?
Here are two examples with recursion and no globals:
