Warpstock 2015 presentations
« on: July 04, 2015, 05:08:52 pm »
For people interested in attending/viewing Warpstock 2015, I'm soliciting presentation topics

Here are some of my ideas -- please add your own.

  • DLL heck: how to resolve conflicts along the LIBPATH, ecspecially with RPM/YUM
    vs. other installers.
  • OS/2 loader and the 512 MB problem. QSINIT and RAM Drives.
  • Config.sys: Reviewing the order of execution of statements in Config.sys and
the proper order of loading drivers.

Hi

This is one idea that jumps into my mind right now:

- How to make your OS/2-eCS desktop look cool. A presentation of all the tricks combined with all the apps possible, FM/2, lSwitcher, XWorkplace, Nice, etc, etc. Something that shows the desktop tricks with the software that is available and that sometimes it is under our nose but we miss.

Hi Neil.

- Printers: I noticed that there had been a lot of request on the forums about this subject. So a presentation about OS/2 printer configuration and CUPS may be an interesting idea. I don't know what the rest can say about it.

Everybody, any other ideas around?

If someone's going to talk about CUPS, it probably should be me :) Schedule would need to be like last year and allow for the time difference to Australia :)

Hi All,

I have added the following presentation to the Warpstock 2015 website

http://www.warpstock.org/staticpages/index.php?page=ws2015_sessions

Presenter:
Paul Smedley

It would be helpful if people could also post me any questions they have about CUPS so I can try and ensure I cover those issues during the presentation.

Which version are you going to talk about or rather recommend using (1.48 .. 2.0) ?

Hi Greggory

While a brief presentation about 1.4.8 would be of interest I think Paul should concentrate more on 2.0.0 as that is the way forward - I see cups 2.0.3 is now current.

No, Paul, that is not a hint - but if you are feeling bored sometime... ;-)

Pete

Hi

I splitted the CUPS topic by suggestion.

Let's return to the subject of the thread "Which presentation topics will you like to see at Warpstock 2015 ?".

Could we have someone demo moving from SNAP to Panorama and back again?

I just added this presentation by David  Azarewicz to the website:

Arca Noae Device Drivers: Recent Progress and Future Plans

In this session, we will review the progress and future plans of some key drivers for OS/2. We will cover some of the issues that were encountered and the solutions that were implemented. There should also be time to address questions from the audience. There has been some exciting progress in the past several months so you do not want to miss this session.

Warpstock 2015 is fast approaching. The list of presenters and sessions has grown, and now includes some time for participants to bring their own issues, questions and comments.

The main web page for Warpstock 2015 is here.

http://www.warpstock.org/staticpages/index.php?page=ws2015_home

The list of activities will grow as we make last minute changes. This is the only gathering of it's kind in North America.

If you can't make it to Warpstock, we are planning to offer some on-line coverage. Last year, we were able to view the conference on smartphones and PCs, as well as take some questions.
