Hi.

I will keep trying. All the three USB ports of this machine are black, maybe all are USB 3.0, I need to check the documentation.

Hi Martin

Looks like the Thinkpad Yoga 14 has 2 USB3.0 and 1 USB2.0 ports see http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/thinkpad/yoga-series/yoga-14/

Looks like you may need to find the USB2.0 port by trying each port...

Is it possible to turn off USB3.0 support in the BIOS without turning off USB support completely?

Regards

Pete

Hi Martin,

In the bios you have set USB 3.0 mode to "auto", set it to "off" or something. So first time its a go, second time after spin down its probably reset.  Forcing to usb 2.0 mode or even to usb 1.0 mode is always better. I'm not sure if install will negotiate with a drive if it was set at first time right and second time needs again negotiation for what mode, my guess is that it will run down installation procedure and the time of scanning and negotiation with parts is behind. So forcing hardware to work in a OS/2-eCS acceptable mode is always better.

It worked. Thanks for the help.

Since this machine says "2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0 (always on)" at the end I guessed that the USB 2.0 port was the one that has the battery icon on it.  But I was always using that port for the USB DVD, what finally did the trick was disabling USB 3.0 on the BIOS.

Thanks for the advice. Now I will have to fight with the HDD size and partition distribution. I will be reading "Installing to a 1TB Hybrid SSD "
