Graphics card
« on: March 09, 2013, 11:39:58 pm »
Need to replace a graphics card and wonder if anyone has recommendations.
(Used to have a Radeon HD 6770 1GB which did work, but with limited resolutions.)

Ati X300 or X850 work well with Snap. so do Matrox millennium cards but they are slower.

Thanks, but they are old and not an option in this case.

Why not an option? What are the criteria?

Just tried with Radeon HD 7850 and it seems to work fine at 1920x1080 resolution with the latest Panorama driver.

I have several ATI Radeon X700 cards driving 28" monitors at 1920 x 1200 without any problems using the SDD version 3.1.8 build 505.

From what I have seen most of the PCIe ATI cards listed in the snap readme file will give that resolution and will also work with PCIe based motherboards.

Unless you have a requirement of something like HDMI output there is no need to discard the older cards.

Late response, but in Virtualbox I've managed to use full 1920x1080 res with my Ati Radeon HD 6570 2GB. I'm pretty sure it would still work in a regular install.
