HP CLP M277n
« on: January 06, 2016, 09:42:31 am »
Hi,

Is anyone using this printer with eCS/OS2?
Print languages: HP PCL 6, HP PCL 5c, HP Postscript Level 3 emulation, PCLm, PDF, URF
Sounds promising but I'd appreciate comments.

I have not used this printer ever, but if laser and PostScript3 have no problem importing the file corresponding to the current system configuration from linux or windows. Here if I can help you, if you decide to buy it.

I have not so clear is the use of the scanner, but by what it says:
HP Scanning software, Scan key on touchscreen for Scan-to-USB flash drive (PDF and JPEG), Scan-to-Email, Scan-to-folder, 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for unattended scanning of multiple pages, automatic scan calibration, cropping and image enhancement

Brother in teams usually have an option that is scan to FTP, and I have worked very well. By installing an FTP server on Peter Moylan OS2, and share that folder with all users is an excellent solution without any other software.
In HP equipment, tend to offer scan to mail, but in this case you will not say how to use it. If you decide to buy it and you can use the scanner in a manner appropriate to comment because I too interested.
Lately I'm discarding hp teams, for this reason.
Saludos

Interesting.... the HP LIP page for this printer http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/color_laserjet/hp_color_laserjet_mfp_m277n.html states that it needs a proprietary plugin for print, scan and fax support

I have used many HP-printers and the latest I've tried is the CP 2025 which works with several of the postscript drivers supplied with eCS. (Actually all of these HP printers have worked with a PS3 driver.) I did try HP LIP some years ago but couldn't make it work at that time and I suspect I'll run into trouble trying it again with this printer. For me it's OK just to use the printing functions from eCS/OS2 as it seems that one can scan to a drive or email, (not sure if I would use fax functions anymore), so if that drive/folder can be easily accessed it would be good enough.

Several HP models have these functions so perhaps someone has tried a similar model?

The point in mentioned the plugin required by hplip was that if a plugin is required for hplip, the printer may not work with the PCL/PS3 drivers on OS/2 - unless the hplip warning is misleading, and the plugin is only required for scanning support....

My HP OfficeJet PRO X476 looks similar to this model and have similar spec except it uses ink. See http://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php/topic,727.msg7183.html#msg7183. My model can prints duplex automatically too.

If HP uses similar software then there should be no problem. Scans goes to a shared ressource by Samba without problems. No luck with standard OS/2 netbios though. FAX are forwarded to email.

I recently purchased HP Color Laserjet Pro M252dw, which works with the latest eCups. This does network and color duplex printing on OS/2.

See thread on this printer.
