I have just installed OS/2 on a second disk in my system but unfortunately I can only boot from it via Boot Manager on the first disk which I want to remove eventually.
is there any way to install Boot Manager on the second disk?

Easiest with DFSee, which includes a Bootmanager image IIRC. You can always reverse your disks and use LVM to add it.

If I reverse disks (ie boot order) I can't boot from the second disk.
I guess DFSee is the only option.... Although if I booted from a Linux system I guess I could one partition as bootable.

Hi John
Why not sack BootManager and install AirBoot instead? - https://trac.netlabs.org/air-boot for some info; this seems to be a very reliable release, not had any problems with it at all on several systems http://bensbits.totalresults.nl/downloads/AiR-BOOT-v1.1.0-final.zip

Boot Manager does support being on disk 2. However, for some reason the LVM program from IBM doesn't provide a way of putting it there, even though the LVM engine (API) itself does.
You could try my incomplete LVMGUI replacement... It's only half-finished, but I think installing Boot Manager is one of the things I actually implemented. (It's been a few years so I don't remember clearly.)

The idea is that you select the second disk in the bottom panel, then choose System->Boot Manager->Install.
No promises that it will work, but if you have no other options you can try it. :)

I'll give it a try, thanks.

Just use Airboot or Grub from Linux and add OS/2 to the boot menu.
Or use a setup that just works - http://os2notes.net/os2dualboot.html

Hi Greggory
I don't think anyone has mentioned linux as being involved at all.

Not only that, grub won't boot OS/2 unless chainloading on the first primary partition as C:
Last time I used Grub, it installed itself into the MBR and I had to set it to chainload BootManager.
OTOH, my son screwed up his Win7 install and can only boot it with Grub :)

Hi Pete ;)
John has started multiple threads (3rd) on this (either way he should use Airboot or Grub instead of BM ):
http://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php/topic,1034.0.html
Or a two disk layout that just works:
http://os2notes.net/os2dualboot.html
Less he needs a specific feature of BM which he has not listed.
Also, Win 10 should be on its own drive. I re-install Win 10 with each new beta preview every couple of week without problems with the above layout.
Bottom line just use Airboot (since it uses the MBR just re-install it after reversing drives).
Cheers

...
Which is why I recommended Airboot (which partly uses the MBR too).
Second, using Grub (not Grub2) is fine if you know what you are doing, either way, both are better than BM.
