How are you trying to start them?  I use a program object with the settings as shown below.
The full 'Parameter' line is: -Duser.home=e:\java-apps\artofillusion -jar artofillusion.jar

All the java programs I have start in similar way with the correct changes re dir etc as necessary.

Sorry Eugene, I had no problem installing ArcaOS 5.07 on it.  As far as I remember it has something like v2 of the bios and I have never been tempted to update that - why mess with a working system?

The two M.2 slots have SATA cards in them as well as there being a 2 Tb  2.5 inch drive in a combination slim line DVD/disk unit.  I installed ArcaOS from DVD as I always do without problems.

Other than that all I can say is that it works for me.

Thanks for the info, I just hope they make real WarpIn packages, i.e. as it was designed and not some odd rpm variant.

Sorry, the best I can do is an MSI B550-A PRO with a third gen Ryzen 3 PRO 4350G which works very well.

First observations.

Do you have three physical floppy drives and why is the CD drive listed in the middle of that list since it is usually at the end, at least it is on on all the OS/2 installs I have here.

I think you need to get out your copy of DFSee and sort the drive letters into a logical order.

Hi Andy B,

I should say I want one without an Intel processor hence my looking at this one with the Ryzen processor.

7
I have a need for a very small portable computer that will run ArcaOS.  I saw this at a friend's place but he is running windows rubbish and won't change so I thought I'd ask for the forum members views.

Hi Andy,
Did you run the cleanppd.cmd first?  My biggest problem was getting both printers to appear in the printer list.

I have two Brother laser colour printers that work very well with the PSPRINT driver after I added the PPD for each to it.  You should be able to get the PPD from the Brother site under their Linux driver for that printer.

Mine are the DCP-9020cdw and HL-3170cdw
NOTE: you need to be careful when reading how to use PIN.exe to get the PPD into the PSPRINT.

What camera do you have?  I do not remove the cards from my Nikon D60 or D3200 cameras, just plug in the correct USB cable and use  Cameraderie v1.5.3   (C) Copyright 2006, 2007  R L Walsh to copy the photos to my hard disk - very quick, simple and easy to do.

As far as I know that SD card requires an SD to USB adapter to allow it to be used as a USB device.  There is your first problem - those adapters are not the fastest way of reading SD cards via USB.

Try again with a real USB stick, something like a Philips 32 Gb unit and see what your timing is then.  As an aside, the USB chipset of the computer also has some input to the speed of inserted USB sticks.

Hi roberto,

Without knowing what USB stick you are using there can not be any real comments made - not all USB sticks are made equal, some are better quality than others.  I have no problems copying a 2.7 GB ISO file to or from a USB stick in less than 2 minutes on one stick but it takes 4 minutes on another.

When you do tests you should give all the information about the test, make and model USB stick, imf you tried the same test with another brand of USB stick, What is the hardware for the USB- is it native mode or a pass through from a USB v3 controller, and so on.  All those things make a bigger difference to copy speed than messing about with the config.sys settings.

Hi Andi,

I'm English and like you I don't understand what he is rabbiting on about.  I also don't see what he is trying to gain with all the messing about he does after all 'if it works why change anything' is the rule I worked under before my retirement, nearly 30 years ago, and still do today.

I would be nice if he explained what he is trying the achieve but that seems to be some nebulous goal without any real reasoning.

General Discussion / Re: Some friendly reminder about the OS2World forum

Hi Martin,
I fit in your list at number one although until I retired I was also in number 3 on your list.  I still use OS/2 every day but also use Linux for a firefox browser (v 86.10.0 esr) when ny ancient firefox for OS/2 doesn't open some of the web sites.

I do agree with you about accepting all points of view but reserve the right to be grumpy about some comments.

Thanks Dave.  Why didn't the Arca publicity person say that?
