Hi Remy

Probably device (usb floppy) not ready rather than disk (or cd) not ready - must admit I am guessing though...

Hi mauro

I do not use Avxcat myself but would expect some sort of "exclude drive(s)" setting within the app to avoid the problem or, possibly, an entry in an ini file that could be changed...

Floppy drive D: is possibly a USB Floppy - if I am right you can get rid of this, if not needed, by changing the config.sys entry to
BASEDEV=USBMSD.ADD /REMOVABLES:8 /FLOPPIES:0

You could also REM cd related drivers in the config.sys to "lose" drive F:

@ivan
Drive order looks OK to me - fixed drives above removable drives

Programming / Re: Qt6 Application Testing

I use the following tweaks to get a bit more memory:-

REM ***** SWAPPATH=L:\OS2\SYSTEM 2048 2048
SWAPPATH=K:\TEMP\SYSTEM 2048 409600

REM **** THREADS=1024
REM **** The next line works best to reduce shared memory use
THREADS=512

REM **** VIRTUALADDRESSLIMIT=3072
REM **** The next line works best to reduce shared memory use
VIRTUALADDRESSLIMIT=2560

REM **** PROCESSES=156
REM **** The next line works best to reduce shared memory use
PROCESSES=128

The above settings allow me to open and close Seamonkey and OpenOffice multiple times during a day without the system falling over.

Maybe they will help with the above memory problem...

Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: Mouse single-click in WPS
« on: February 23, 2023, 12:26:59 am »
Hi Ramon

If you have a 3 button mouse you may want to experiment with Mappings ->  Page 6 -> MB3 Click Action

The Help states: If "Double click" is selected, then all MB3 clicks will be converted to mouse-button-1 double clicks. This allows you, for example, to single-click on any Desktop object with button 3 to have the object opened.

It does work - but if you have MB3 setup to open a new tab in a browser you get the original page and the new tab both loading the link you clicked. To get around this use Ctrl-Click (MB1) instead of MB3.

Article Discussions / Re: List of Supported Laptop Computers - ArcaOS
« on: February 14, 2023, 02:36:24 am »
Hi Martin

You could add the following to the Archive list:-

Dell Latitude E5500,  Year 2009
Good compatibility with ArcaOS 5.0.x.
Wireless does not work with the installed Broadcom wireless nic but swapping that out for an Intel 5100 works for me using Genmac and the genmu Intel driver package.

Hi Dave

If my system crashes with a USB drive attached I find it much quicker to power off (HD) or unplug (Flash) USB drive then reboot.
When booted I attach the USB drive, open a command window and chkdsk the USB drive while getting on with other things - such as writing this  :-)

Storage / Re: Cloning a drive
« on: October 14, 2022, 10:33:58 pm »
Hi

If I remember correctly a *clone* is the same size as the original.

I think you have to use the copy command in DFSee to "clone" a smaller drive/partition to a larger drive/partition.

If you find yourself getting confused I find Jan is very quick at providing the answer(s) by email - as long as you have Registered DFSee.

Applications / Re: printing from Lotus SmartSuite WordPro
« on: October 11, 2022, 02:06:49 am »
Hi Neil

Very long time since I last used Wordpro and about the only printing problem I can recall was page size related. If there was a paper mismatch nothing got printed - and there was no message anywhere about page size problems.

If cups is involved check all required bits'n'bobs are installed and at the same level - might be worth checking the cups bits installed on the working system to see if there are any differences.

Hi Neil

Some questions rather than answers:-

1] Does anything print from the printer

2] What printer is involved

3] What printer driver is involved

Hi

The link now loads the webpage but no downloads showing, just the rotating "loading" indicator showing in the "Assets" section...

Is Daves latest Seamonkey no longer "compatible" with github?

Hi

Thought I'd give it a try but clicking on your link results in

The choice of SB driver packages should be in [CD/DVD]:\CID\SERVER\MMOS2\DRIVERS

Hi Mark

A useful tool for investigating and extracting files from WPI packages is WPIView which you should find here ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/vxapps/wpiview/wpiview110.zip
