Checking OpenTTD 12.1, it uses the SDL2 libraries from the RPM.

But you will get an error when try to load, you need to also get these files to complete game package.

If I don't recall wrong you need to put the .tar files inside the /baseset.

There was a discussion about OpenTTD here.

Hi ChisTech

I'm trying "". I'm using ArcaOS 5.0.7 and when I run "prince.exe" I get:
SYS1804: The system cannot find the file SDL2.

I think that "prince.exe" are requesting different SDL libraries that are not on the RPM.

The ones on the RPM are:

The ones that asks "prince.exe" are listed on the PMDLL image I'm attaching.

Those DLLs are listed on ""

This happens because (long story short) we have two different ports of SDL2.

I had new question about where to locate things.

There some some utilities that replaces OS/2 command, like "cd", "dir", replacements (ex;,,,,,,, etc). A lof of them are on "/pub/os2/util/disk"
I'm not sure if that should be the correct location, since I see the "/disk" more as partition utilities, disk tools (defrag, checkdisk, format) and even floppy image utilities.

Which other options do I have:
- "/pub/os2/util/misc"          - Not sure, since at the end everything ends on "Misc"
- "/pub/os2/util/file"            - Maybe, since some of this command line utilities may be realted to files
- "/pub/os2/util/system"      - Maybe, there are some command line tools there, but also some hardware report utilities.
Or a create a new directory.

What do you think? Ideas are welcome.

About driver duplicates, as far as the "main driver" goes:

1) (Version: 2.04c)
is an exact duplicate of
2) (Version: 3.3b)

But 1) contains an additional driver to support PC-CARD based interface HW but compared to 2) it is lacking the DOS drivers.
For OS/2, package 1) is therefore the more complete set of drivers.

If you insist on keeping both, I suggest to at least update both descriptions to "Version 2.04c" because that is what the enclosed documentation refers to in both cases.
On this case I think it will be better to merge both. I had just uploaded it "" to replace both files.

- DOSIdle :  Don't know what it does and where to put it.

this one should help fix high DOS CPU usage for CA-Clipper (similar to from the package from dink but for only one program)

That's good. Maybe both (DOSIdle  and NeatUtils) can go into "/pub/os2/util/system", otherwise I'm open for a better location suggestion on hobbes.

And I found more about CcDoc, it will go to "/pub/os2/dev/tools/docgen"

Ok, I had also checked Paul Smedley's site and sync some file versions with hobbes. Thanks to Paul for fixing some dead links on his site.

Hi Albert, welcome to the forum

I don't have that program, but I just want to give more details, just in case someone else can help.

Is it XactPro by SciLab GmbH (Germany) ?? Or it is a different XAct?

Good. I had checked the excellent Glassman software. It is update in hobbes with the exception of:
- DOSIdle :  Don't know what it does and where to put it.
- CCDoc :  Don't know what it does and where to put it.

While I keep going reorganising the /os2/util directory, I will like to go in parallel with the next phase, which is including missing software on hobbes.

I need feedback to know which freeware/shareware/opensource software I'm missing on /os2/apps.
The idea will be to have on hobbes the latest version of each software for OS/2.

So, if you see text editors, Engineering software, calculators, etc, that is missing hobbes, just post it here so I can upload it.

Applications / Re: Node.js?
« on: August 10, 2022, 06:33:41 pm »

I always wanted to see if we can run node.js application as stand alone.
There were some node.js applications that runs inside the firefox and dooble browser on OS/2, but I always wondering what it is missing to be able to run those as stand alone apps. I found it interesting how quick the developer make those apps for Windows, MacOS, Linux and web.

Some of the apps are like Element for chat. There are some other I don't remember now. I guess we need to get the list of killer node.js open source software and solve the question. Why getting Node.js running on OS/2 will be cool ?

And, it seems I forgot to further test js.exe from "What is needed for Node.js apps?"

Enable serial port in Virtualbox, and there's an option to save the serial port output to a text file.
Make com.sys (or pscom.sys) is loaded
add /p:1 to the uniaud32 driver line in config.sys

Hi Paul, the uniaud drivers installation is a task I left undone last year (Warp 4.52 on Virtualbox) since I could not obtain sound from video streaming on browser (ie. youtube), which is still my actual issue in soundblaster mode as well. Following these latest posts I feel I could try again now. Where can I find an installation steps how-to, like config.sys editing?
Thank you

Hi Mauro.

I would do it this way.
- Install the full Uniaud using the latest full installer. (
- Check everything is fine on the VM
- Later install the latest devbuild that Paul's offers here.

Hi Paul

I'm using the "release" version.
- Enabled Serial port and take the output as a RAW file.
- Enabled COM.SYS
- Added /p:1 on Uniaud.
- Rebooted and changed to "ICH AC97" to reproduce the trap.

This is what it showed on the RAW text file.

Uniaud32 version 3.01.01
Based on linux 5.15.59
pci_register_driver: query_device found 28 8086:2415 class=40100 checking intel8x0
pci_register_driver: matched 0 8086:2415/40100 with 8086:2415/0 0 (intel8x0)

It is something else I need to do?

Hi Fran├žois, welcome to the forum.

I will also like to also suggest you to install testlog (link here), run "testlog generic" and upload the text the report. With that we can have a first idea of your configuration.

I found that the Intel 2200 Wlan [8086:4220] is listed as supported devices of GenMU, which is a extra set of driver for GenMAC.

Hi Paul

I also went straight for the 20220807b and got a trap on VirtualBox.
I tested it with ArcaOS 5.0.7 VM guest on VBox 6.1.36 (Windows 10 host).
- VM ICH AC97: traps
- VM Intel HD Audio: Works, Audio control working, no traps.

Programming / Re: SIO, SIO2K
« on: August 07, 2022, 05:22:42 pm »
Hi Fusion

I had been talking with Ray Gwinn for aprox five years via Facebook, requesting him to open source SIO2K. He initially agreed, but when the time comes to share the source code, I don't know why he pulls back. First he wanted to be sure someone will keep the working on this code, later he wanted someone to goes to his hoome to pick up the code and later he said that he can only make available source code on his own ftp (for legal reassons) and that his ISP didn't allow that.

I'm trying to contact him one more time to see what he told me.
