Hardware / Re: OS/2 for Industrial Use
« on: January 07, 2026, 08:14:16 pm »
Thanks Steven
The versions you are looking at are OS/2 based.  The one's I know of are no longer running the original PC-300s.

If you have any other extra information you can share, like which card did the OS/2 PC had, to be included on the wiki, I will appreciate that.

Hello Andi B.

I have nvme experience here with two machines. Both had the GPT partitions made by Win10 and it got recognized.

I haven't seen any reports on the:
 Vendor 1C5Ch SK hynix
Device 174Ah Gold P31/BC711/PC711 NVMe Solid State Drive

Maybe, if you have an alternative nvme HDD, you can try to replace it and see if ArcaOS recognize, but I know it is kind of a nag and maybe it is not the problem.

I think you had made enough testing to open a ticket on the Arca Noae ticket system. I don't know if someone else have another idea of what else to test.

Hi
I've two sticks. One ArcaOS5.1 the other one ArcaOS5.1DE. ArcaOS5.1DE boots into the installer. But does not find a disk and so no partitions. Now try to shrink the Linux partition from Linux boot stick and see if I get further.
Do you think it may be that the nvme driver is not loaded? I'm guessing that this machine has a NVME HDD. Can you check on the ArcaOS USB boot to change the values and check if nvme.add is enabled?

Hi

First problem was 'Secure boot'. Found it in BIOS and switched it off. Thanks Martin.

Now it boots until the ArcaOS logo...
That's some progress.

Can you disable Hyperthreading to see if you have any difference?
Also, when the OS/2 square shows up can you press "Alt+F2" to see if it list you on which driver is getting stuck?

Hello Richard.

Can you please try it again? I was updating the wiki script this afternoon.  I see that it works, can you confirm it on your side?

Hello

I have the "Lenovo ThinkPad T14s 1st Gen - 20T1" (Intel). My notes are on the wiki.

Can you check the "Secure Boot" on the BIOS? disable it and try again to boot with F12 and select to boot the USB Flash drive.

Are you trying 5.1.1 ?
I would also test, just in case, that the USB flash boot on a different machine, to test it is fine.

Hi Neil.

A Lenovo adapter is required to connect an Ethernet cable because the laptop is too thin to support a normal Ethernet connection.

Is that the "ThinkPad Ethernet Extension Adapter Gen 2" ? I use one o this on the Thinkpad T14s ethernet.

Thanks for the reply Steven.

I'm creating the wiki page for it.

The Kensington CSMT-4 seems to be also from those days, it has an IBM PC 300. If someone knows if it used also OS/2, please let me know.

Any more information on these models are welcome, manuals, config.sys, software screenshots, program .exe names, etc.

Hello

I got the tip of another Industrial Machine that used to had OS/2.  It seems to be something like a "Kensington Laboratories Wafer Mapper/Sorter "

If someone has more information about it or what it does, please let me know.

I found this one on ebay, but I'm not sure it comes bundle with OS/2. It comes with a IBM PC-350 machine.

I just want to publish any public information on how it works and what it does at the OS2World wiki.

Setup & Installation / Re: eCenter button image
« on: December 29, 2025, 08:28:01 pm »
Hello

I don't fully remember this, but I believe that eCenter was just a rebranded xCenter. And xCenter is part of XWorkplace, so xWorkplace should not be removed.

Adrian, what OS/2 version are you using? IBM, eComStation or ArcaOS?

Quote
Or is it possible to get the old ecenter back?
Is there any way eCenter has something better that xCenter? Because I think that with the latest version of XWorkplace (that has xCenter) we should be fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Networking / Re: Can not connect to TCP/IP - DHCP Client
« on: December 27, 2025, 04:53:48 pm »
Hello

The problem got solved with magic  ;D

I installed LCSS because I wanted to see the config.sys organized to compare it to my VM. I rebooted and now the network works, even with DHCP.

I will check what did the trick here. Thanks for the help.
