Applications / Re: AVxCAT 2.1.1.2
« on: November 20, 2024, 12:13:18 pm »
Hi,

Due to some personnal need and may be very usefull to create video using presentation charts and overlay into a corner a speaker video providing
explanation and description of the presentation.

I extended the overlay option which is picture into video to video into picture (same sources but inverted order) and preserved the possibility to resize the video as well resulting video opacity too.

I renamed the Ulogo checkbox to U_pic checkbox and added a checkbox V.in -to use video into picture instead of default picture into video

note: remove (having the webcam as overlay to an image in live streaming generates a too long command not supported by rexx)
**** FOUND how to resolve when using webcam stream to overwrite image - WEB cam input for this overwrite option will be included

I can provide a pre-build of AVxCAT 2.2  (I hope have it finalized before end of year)
regards

« on: November 17, 2024, 08:06:11 pm »
Hi!

Here are some information about current dev status of AVxCAT 2.2.0.0 (stable and planned to be GA)

New is a preresq tools which is planned to be run to help Installation, checking system for missing prereqs or optional tools, providing a html list with links and/or download missing packages and planned to do most package installation (taking account if warpin, anpm, @unixroot or not)
This tool is in alpha dev and some function not integrated yet. Currently, it did the system scan, provide a listing including download links and should be ok to download selected missing packages (some function not fully done and installation not implemented yet including yum install or warpin install or unzip install)...

For thos insteresting to give a test and provide feedback to correct my dev if some element or functions should changed/added
(all informations are read and if suggestion is something easy to do and welcome for all, you'll be informed)
send me an email with title "From os2world - request package test" to r.dodin
my smtp is on free (france)

Under programs or GUI, you may issue prompt commands and get back messages through pipes for analysis.
It would be best to always have them in English (original) or it could disturb some programs/GUI

Programs or GUI could have any language of course.

Programming / Re: Qt6 Application Testing

Using qt 6.2.10 and seems to work as good as previous build for tests I did.

One important thing: Dooble QT5  build seems to be buggy or using function not well working yet !
I always have Dooble QT6 build closing during nperf tests and incorrect language translation into title bar and other places

I did a try replacing Dooble QT6 with the February Dooble QT5 build under my QT 6.2.10 library and using my script to start it like I did with Dooble QT6

Dooble QT5 with QT6.2.10:
- Dooble QT5 didn't close and nperf could be run several times without issue !
- Dooble QT5 hasn't the language issue QT6 build has !
- Doogle QT5 has no issue whatching youtube videos and changing video on the fly or doing seeks into the video !

Screenshots about language issue I reported several times (see title bar but other Dooble QT6 entries have the incorrect language too

Hi!

A stupid question:
In which language are messages issued under an OS/2 prompt command window if a specific AcaOS build is installed ( e.g. ArcaOS (DE) ) ?
Are most of messages in english ? or are all of them translated into OS base language (I hope not)
What about message out of this command ?
With unpluged network / with network up.
nslookup -retry=1 -timeout=1 127.0.0.1

I could not test locally.
Thanks

Setup & Installation / Re: OS/2 Booting with Bootman
« on: October 18, 2024, 04:56:32 pm »
Hmm.  I didn't think to change the drive letter in XP first.  I think it's not simple as registry issues can happen.  I'll go that route and let you know how it goes.

The BeOS boot manager just boots based on partition number.  I'm
Not sure what the OS/2 boot manager does.  When the windows boot manager is active just booting XP, it's just the default setup with the first partition being C:, until OS/2 interferes.  I think if I can successfully get XP booting with D:, I should be all set.

Sorry, not changing drive letter but just boot into the partition you will install OS/2 because this partition already was defined If I correctly understand it. I wrote D: because you wrote installing OS/2 to D: (drive letter is LVM added during install)

Boot one time (from under you boot manager) into the partition you will install OS/2 (if this partition is empty, boot will fail but the boot manager has it taken as boot partition, than boot on the DVD and install OS/2 (it should see the latest boot partition used from under you boot manager)

I'm running into some issues with Windows XP and OS/2.  They aren't playing nice.  Neither one seems to want to install to anything other than C:

How can I install OS/2 Warp 4.52 to D:  I can set D: to startable, but not installable I'm LVM.

I have
16GB Windows XP
8GB OS/2
40GB BeOS
    Logical
32GB Haiku
20GB Slackware

If I install OS/2 first, on C:, Windows XP will only install to C:, and I can't change the drive letter during installation.  So I would like to install OS/2 to D:, if I can't install XP to D:.

Hum!

What was your latest boot partition via your boot manager ?
If it was C:, try to change it one time to D: and only after try to install OS/2 from the DVD.

I had something like you using airboot with already defined partitions and resolved it changing selected partition under airboot first.

Now that the 6.2.6 webengine is working ok-ish -  I'm rebuilding the 6.2.8 code which is chromium 102.0.5005.177, using GCC 14. This is similar to the code in Qt 6.4.x.

As I recall,  it compiled OK, but any use of javascript crashed the browser, we'll see what happens. Maybe a fresh review of the v8 code will highlight some problems <shrug>

Hi Paul,
Something I observed is that when changing youtube video on the fly during play, system sound is impacted and no more available until WPS restart. (ArcaOS uniaudio used). Have no idea why

What do you think about this ?
https://github.com/bitwiseworks/qtwebengine-chromium-os2/issues/27

What in particular? It's a closed ticket,  this code is included in the Qt6 port.

It priority problem was described.

Q: I only get trp files using the LIBCN0 as suggested. Is it as expected ?

I have a case having the trp all times, here's one more trp

May it possible to get a webengine build with -no-webengine-jumbo-build ?
Jumbo seems no more been supported by google if found information are good ones
(Due I see a lot of jumbo ref into the trp)

Remy,

Are you sure that you did not get corresponding exceptq reports written to %LOGFILES%\app?  Normally, the silent exit code will generate an exceptq report with the description

Exception 71785158 - Exceptq Debug Request

The file name will be similar to

  4294967295-001e_14-dooble-exceptq.txt

No *dooble-exceptq.txt  at TRP date

Into the TRP, I could see many entries having time or timing text field (I do not know how to interpret this) but it looks like all have a ref to base_jumbo* )
