Internet / Tried Browservice ?

I'm reinstalling some machines to try this--seems like it could be a viable way to browse the modern-day web with the browsers we have. (although not a great mobile solution)

"A web "proxy" server that enables browsing the modern web on historical browsers. It works by rendering the browser viewport into images, which are then shown by a JavaScript application running on the client browser."

It's mostly for older Internet Explorer versions, but says this is supported:

OS/2 Warp 4.52   Firefox 2.0.0.14

Setup & Installation / ArcaOS 5.0.8 upgrade successful

Hey all,

Just a quick note.. I updated my Thinkpad X301 from 5.0.7 to 5.0.8 and it worked great.  Booted from USB stick and it recognized my existing JFS partition and did the upgrade.

Applications / flrig / fldigi

Hi!

As previously stated, I have next to no programming knowledge.

I've love to have the flrig program (or suite of programs) available on ArcaOS for use of amateur radio.  Seems to be mostly written in C++ and is available on Windows, MacOS and Linux platforms now.  Any idea if this would be complex to port over?

Games / Minecraft

Hi all,

Ok don't fire me...  does OS/2-ArcaOS have a new enough Java to run Minecraft?

I tried copying the jar file off but couldn't get the syntax to get it to try to run....

Thanks......  We play a lot of Minecraft at our house.

Hardware / Some successful installs with ArcaOS 5.0.7

Hi all,

Maybe someone can copy and paste this into the Wiki, but I've tested installation ArcaOS 5.0.7 on a number of machines.  Here are my results:

Successful installations:
Thinkpad x301 type 2776-L9U
Intel NUC NUC5i5RYH
HP ProDesk 400 G3 T4L77UT#ABA
Dell Lattitude something (have to check the model)

Ethernet wired LAN works... wifi does not.  Sound works.

Have to follow standard guidance... disable AHCI in BIOS, delete all partitions on the drive before installing, etc.

Failed installations:
HP Compaq dc5150

Hope this might help someone out there.....

I have an account for the forum, but it doesn't work on the home page nor for the Wiki.  I recently installed ArcaOS on some machines and wanted to update the wiki...

Can someone tell me how to get an account on there too?

Applications / Porting question

Hi all,

First of all, I am NOT a programmer...  I'm mainly a Microsoft-product administrator...  did OS/2 back in the hey-day and Novell.

As far as porting applications from Windows...  is it easier to port and maintain individual applications and needed libraries or would it be easier to port and maintain to ODIN?
