Hello

Tellie updated Media-Downloader:
ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/qtapps/media-downloader-3.3.0-os2.7z

I will check how to make it run and if there is any change from the latest version on the instructions.

Regards

Hello, I got back to this subject. It finally worked here on my ArcaOS 5.1.0 VM.

1) You need to pull the trick to install python 2.7 and python 3. Ref: https://mantis.arcanoae.com/view.php?id=3523
- In ANPM I went to "Available - RPM"
- I selected "python2.7", "python3", "python-unversioned-command" and run "Install".

2) Following the old "Media-Downloader" readme:
Quote
n OS2 we cant have utf8 filenames, and we need to stick with ascii, that's why we need to add --restrict-filenames

Go to Configure tab.
Go to Engines's Default Options tab.
At the Engine's Name drop down list, select an engine you want to change its option.
At the "Options To Add" text field, add  --newline --ignore-config --no-playlist --restrict-filenames -o %(title).200s-%(id)s.%(ext)s
Click Add.
Right click the newly added entry and then select Set As Default.

And it worked for me, it downloaded the "yt-dlp runtime" automatically, and I was able to get a YouTube Video downloaded.

But on this version I can not longer find the "media-downloader.conf" to add "NetworkTimeOutInSeconds=300". But it worked for me.

Hello

I'm trying to find out if this software runs for you, I get a Japanese error:
- WRUMIN (DBCS-Ruminator) 1.0
- From A.Y.DAYO
- https://www.vector.co.jp/vpack/browse/person/an023499.html
It's Japanese, it translate as:
- DBCS input assistance utility
- Supports DBCS input in overseas-made applications that cannot input DBCS (full-width characters)

I guess I will put it on "/pub/os2/util/international".

Setup & Installation / Re: Determine ArcaOs Version installed

Thanks Michael for sharing the source.

It is very interesting to see how your nver checks for OS/2, eCS or ArcaOS and shows the corresponding version.

It makes me wonder where does "DosQuerySysInfo" get's the OS/2 version. Where is stored that version text?

Hi

I don't use OpenChat, but I quickly got it at hobbes (1.08 (2015-01-29)).
I installed it and it contains OPENCHAT-SMP.EXE

Here (Virtualbox guest VM) it runs just like openchat.exe.

Hi Dave

The official release of Dooble is now "2023.08.30". Can you please take a look at it to see if it compiles for ArcaOS?

Setup & Installation / Re: Determine ArcaOs Version installed
« on: September 27, 2023, 06:58:59 pm »
Hi Eric

Like Pete says, checking  BootDrive:\sys\install\install.flg may be the best way.

Code: [Select]
ArcaOS 5.0.8 EN
Built 2023-05-31 20:20:23

Installation started:   23-09-06 14:46:33
Installation completed: 23-09-06 14:56:41

"c:\bldlevel os2krnl"  will give you the kernel revision version.
Code: [Select]
[C:\]bldlevel os2krnl
Build Level Display Facility Version 6.12.675 Sep 25 2001
(C) Copyright IBM Corporation 1993-2001
Signature:       @#IBM:14.204#@_SMP  IBM OS/2 Kernel
Vendor:          IBM
Revision:        14.204
File Version:    14.204
Description:     _SMP  IBM OS/2 Kernel

Strangely in ArcaOS 5.0.8 ver /r gives me 14.103, not exactly sure what release is showing there (build level 14.106  used to be fixpack 6).

"testlog generic" can also give you the ArcaOS version on the first lines.

Hello

Not that I know something about it, I just searched the OS2World github and found this one: https://github.com/OS2World/LIB-MM-libdart/tree/master/src
Will that work?

I don't even remember where I uploaded it from 9 years ago.  :o

Hello.

Does anybody has an idea what is this Ruki (Ruki.sys) driver for?
It says its developed by Alex Romanov. It is for OS/2 and it shows it loads on boots, it loads ruki$, but no idea what is for.
Or it is just somekind of demo/sample?

(Please don't try it on a production/critical machine, I don't know what it is)

Hello

Just in case to let you know. I had been slowly checking other OS/2 files repository and compare if the software is available on hobbes. There had been some little interesting things that was missing on hobbes and I had been uploading them.
For example, these days I'm checking the OS/2 file from: http://cd.textfiles.com/swextrav4/swextrav4-4/

If you find some OS/2 Freeware/Shareware/Patch/Open software that hobbes is missing, let me know.
