That explains why TAME no longer works with our USB scanners unless we use the old USBCALLS.DLL.

Could you post the updated CAMERA.EXE because I was wondering why I now had to take the card out of my camera to download files.

Also could I ask for those that changed USBCALLS.DLL to do something about updating all the programs that rely on it to work or at least provide something that will allow those programs to work.

I still can't reproduce what you are seeing and I have 105 fonts on this particular machine that we use for producing technical manuals.

I continus to yhink it is a hardware problem with your mouse.  The mouse should only send one signal to the controller software and that is generally when the button is down.  The button up signal should be suppressed both by the hardware and the controller software.  What you are describing is a button down signal and a button up signal from your mouse which, unless you are using a very expensive industrial programmable unit, only happens when the signal shaping chip in the mouse is faulty.

Have you tried your test with a different mouse yet?

Sorry but uou do have a hardware problem with your mouse.  A mouse is not designed to register a click on both button down and button up (OK, there are a few very specialist ones that are hardware settable to change from one to the other).

Try another mouse as a test, or if this is a touch pad try a USB mouse.

I assume ecentre is the eCS equivalent of WarpCentre which we use (WSeB in use here).  Doing what you describe I get what I expect to get when clicking on 'Fonts', a list of the fonts (that is what the arrow at the right edge of the dropdown indicates.  If it had been an arrow in a box I would expect clicking on the name would start the first program or clicking on the arrow in the box would allow the selection of another item in the resulting dropdown.

It sounds as if there is something very strange going on with your mouse rather than xWorkplace.  We don't see what you are seeing on any of our 25 machines.

It would help if you gave some screen shots of what you are talking about because I don't understand either.

Yes, the desktop is a folder so where are you hiding this 'newdesktop'?

The simple answer is to download those two wpi archives and run warpin with them before you try to install aoo.

Since we already had those archives installed when we made the disk images for our client I just used the 'Extract' function to extract the files to a temp directory.

Mike, if memory serves we had the same problem which I fixed by using wpiview and using its extract function to extract aoo to a temp directory.  Two zips on their way shortly.

Hi Dave,

It can't be that simple - can it?  It it is then what is the point of the filter in the first place?

Does your e-mail provider allow zip files (gmail and several others don't)?  If so I have a zip that I got from one of the news groups that I can send you.

The reason I mentioned a wired network connection is that it is generally faster than a wireless one plus there is a much greater probability that OS/2 eCS has a driver for the network chipset.  Other than that we use an all wired network for security reasons because wireless can be easily hacked.

Andi, I just copied our XP.vdi over to the test machine we are using for testing this version of vbox and it runs without any problems.  The test machine uses SNAP for video.

That leads to the conclusion that the Panorama video drivers may be the problem.  We can't test that as we don't have the Panorama drivers to play with.

nayo, why would you want to run a copy of the host operating system as a virtual machine guest on that host?

A virtual machine will seldom run as well as the host mainly because the host is running on real hardware and the guest has to run on virtualised hardware.

Agreed, there are two buttons.  One is the X, which I assume is supposed to close the bar, and the other is the / over something that looks like a folder which you say represents the 'do not show this again'.

The problem is that neither one does anything.

From my position here reading your problems it sounds as if you have a very messed up system.

OK, I don't have eCS but we use the OS/2 version it is based on.

Scribus v1.4.5 works without any problems and even our Epson flat bed USB scanners work with Tame.

Now the question is what size laptop do you want and how portable does it have to be?  Then you need to consider how you connect to your peripherals (scanner, printer etc.), do you use wireless or a wired connection?

One thing I am wondering about is why you would want slurp10 (what win10 is called in most IT department because of its reporting everything you do back to Redmond).  If you do get a notebook with 10 on it it is very unlikely to allow you to install anything else because the UEFI lockdown.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but you need to define exactly what you want to do and what programs you want to run then look for hardware specifications that will support that.
