I think possibly at one time IBM planned on supporting 60x60 size. The reason I say that is I have found a few icons in the past that included this size.

OS/2 icons are a lot of work.  That is why I prefer making and using PNGs. The icon editor is limited and as a result makes working with it tedious.  You really need 4 icons for the 4 sizes sizes used by the system.   If one uses one large icon and lets the the workplace shell resize, it is a hit and miss as to what you get, especially when using the smaller sizes.

I usually make four separate icons in windows using the free Greenfish Icons Editor Pro.  In fact, I make most of my PNGs using this editor, version 4.2.  This is a powerful icon editor.  It is a shame one of the few things it can't do is read OS/2 icons.

I make 4 PNG icon sizes
40x40
32x32
20x20
16x16

Usually you can resize 40x40 to 32x32 with a lot of touchup work.

I have found on the smaller sizes, 20x20 and 16x16, one cannot use the whole 40x40 icon. Thus I figure what I can leave out or reduce content to where people still know what the icon is from using the larger size icons.

I then boot to ArcaOS, and open the icon editor.  I search for an OS/2 icon that has the color options I need along with the 4 sizes.  I then use pmview to copy each png to the correct icon size on the icon I am using.  Do a lot of touchup work and then rename and the new icon I modified from the original.  I then test the large icon and small icons to see if it is readable.

As you can see, it is a lot of work creating a descent OS/2 icon.

Hello

I have another request if possible. I want to ask Lothar Söns to update the icon of his "LSZipWizard".
Can you please improve the icon in both .ico and .png format to see if he wants to ship it with his software? I'm attaching the .ico.

Regards

Here is an icon I quickly put together in both ico and png formats.

I had not done a purple folder theme, so I decided to do one.

I agree with Rich.

NPS WPS Enhancer:  I do like the screen drawing feature and do use the Windows shadows also.  I agree with Rich that the shadows aren't really needed.

I like the way you can set the up the way a window can be dragged across the screen such as selecting the body of the window to drag instead of just the titlebar

I use the program called Title to right click on the titlebar which moves a window order forward while moving the top window to the back.

i use Xit to add additional working bitmaps to the titlebar such as a bitmap to roll up a window and unroll the window, cut and paste icons, etc.

The only issue using NPS Enhancer and Xit is to figure out what to disable that might conflict with Xworkplace.

It would be nice to have a program in addition to Xworkplace called WPS Enhancer where the above features could be added without all the other useless features that are no longer needed in the above programs.

it is a shame the developers did not release the code for these three programs.

Hello David.

I had been working on a little installer for an old IBM C compiler and I want to ask you if you can please reimagine/redo/improve these icons, in a bigger PNG format.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

I made a few fast PNGs for you to try.  Do with them as you will.

Another grey folder theme.   Folders are somewhat old style.  Program icons are more modern.

New grey glass system folder options  icons, multimedia folder option icons, and network option icons.

These take on some of the appearance of the folder backgrounds.

Just copy into the theme you want to use them in.  If you do not like, just copy one of the other options folder themes to it, or backup the original theme and copy over the one you had modified.

I don't know how many disks you are dealing with.

I have used VFdisk located at

http://hobbesarchive.com/Home/Download?path=/Hobbes/pub/os2/system/drivers/filesys/VFDISK_6-0.zip

Install it and set up a 2.88 virtual disk with it. Copy all the files from disk 1 and 2 and run install.

I have used this before because I no longer have floppy drives.
