I have just finished setting up a set of Bluetooth enabled devices for a friend.
This got me wondering, since it can be done on Linux could it also be done on OS/2?
Yes, I know that we don't have the drivers, but some excellent programmers are porting such things from Linux.
From what I can find out Bluetooth dongles are USB WiFi using a spread spectrum @ 2.5GHz and in that respect require a software driver just like normal WiFi only setup to account for the frequency hopping.

There's no reason that given the drivers, we couldn't have a full bluetooth stack. Sadly we don't even seem to have the knowledgeable programmers to port up to date wireless networking, or at least with time to do it.

I occasionally use Bluetooth with OS/2. It's wonky, but I set up VNC, an iPhone and whatever bluetooth peripherals I want.

Take a look at this:

Also David from Arca Noae comments in the first 4 minutes about Wireless drivers and what is happening.
So it does seem its being worked, but based on what he says its a pretty big bunch of work.

Yes, David is trying to find time but he is one of the few and has a lot on his plate. Here he seems to have recompiled the BSD driver and did some testing which is good but from the readme,
WARNING:
4 THIS IS AN UNFINISHED, EXPERIMENTAL DRIVER. This driver has
5 passed initial tests and appears to work. However, you may
6 experience problems including hangs, failures, traps, etc.
7 THERE IS CURRENTLY NO SUPPORT FOR THIS DRIVER. USE AT YOUR
8 OWN RISK. Since the FreeBSD driver is simply compiled to run
9 on OS/2, there is no development, no debugging, and no support
10 for that part of the driver. Development is continuing on the
11 interface between the FreeBSD driver and and OS/2 so that part
12 should continue to improve.
