Setup & Installation / Re: How to extend the size of the swapper file
« on: March 16, 2016, 03:15:20 pm »
Looks like you changed the size of minimum free instead of the size of the swap file.

SWAPPATH=<drive>:\<path> <minfree> <swapsize>

There is a third party involved that will not release their sources, and they even wanted to withdraw DBExpert form the market years ago. I've been looking for alternatives to DBE but I have not found anything that's nearly as easy to learn. (AFAIK only the odbc drivers were licensed from Intersolv.)

I have used many HP-printers and the latest I've tried is the CP 2025 which works with several of the postscript drivers supplied with eCS. (Actually all of these HP printers have worked with a PS3 driver.) I did try HP LIP some years ago but couldn't make it work at that time and I suspect I'll run into trouble trying it again with this printer. For me it's OK just to use the printing functions from eCS/OS2 as it seems that one can scan to a drive or email, (not sure if I would use fax functions anymore), so if that drive/folder can be easily accessed it would be good enough.

Several HP models have these functions so perhaps someone has tried a similar model?

Hi,

Is anyone using this printer with eCS/OS2?
Print languages: HP PCL 6, HP PCL 5c, HP Postscript Level 3 emulation, PCLm, PDF, URF
Sounds promising but I'd appreciate comments.

Just got a copy of the personal edition of R:Base 5.5 and as expected it has "somewhat" outdated GUI controls,
but otherwise it seems to have a lot of features. For anyone interested I've attached a couple of pics.

Actually I'm looking for a RAD that creates stand alone programs. I have DBExpert, which is easy to use, but quite outdated for creating GUI's. VX-Rexx works with the Q+E odbc drivers bundled with DBE, while I get lots of errors trying to make VisproRx  work with them.
VP has the db-designer and also "report writer" so I'd like to have it working.
Anyone managed to get VP to work with the Q+E dbf-drivers from DBE?

About OnCmd, although not very likely, perhaps if more OS2-users showed interest in the product it could happen that they fixed the "ASCII-only" stuff and released a new version?

I've also been in contact with R:BASE Technologies and they offered R:BASE 4.5++ for OS/2 16-bit. Last version for OS/2 was R:BASE 5.5 32-bit, and to my big disappointment, they were unable to find a digital or hard copy of that version.

Just wonder if someone has experience with R:Base 5.5 for OS/2?

Thanks for info.
Which version of OnCmd did you buy? Latest for OS/2 PM was 5.5 I think.
Would be nice to find out more about Base32.

Well, I have no intention of making wonders with OnCmd but from what I've seen it does do what it was meant to do.
(I wasn't planning on using it for "production", just curious.)

Do you know if Base32 is available somewhere?

I'm not at all familiar with x2C or Watcom C, perhaps you could give some more info about what the "goal" would be?

Just received a disappointing reply:

"OnCmd for OS/2 is not an active product for us so we can be of assistance to you at this time.  We have multiple current ongoing projects and the best I can do for now is to add your interest to our list and do not expect that we could look at it any time soon and for a single opportunity it may not proceed at all."

Still the software is listed for sale at their web-site !?

Yes, I noticed that but it hasn't been updated since 1998. Have e-mailed them and hopefully I'll receive a reply.

Applications / DBExpert update multiple fields and records
« on: August 16, 2015, 03:22:41 pm »
Hi,

DBExpert has a nice "query function" to update values of selected fields and records in a table but I'd like to run this procedure with a macro.
The table TRANS has many fields and records and I need to change the values of fields CPA, CPB, CPC and CPD for all the records.
Does anyone have a sample of how to do this?
