Internet / Re: Any updates on the Falcon QT browser?

All this "this engine and that engine and those and whatnot" among all the tracking and advertising and consumerism has made ones mind wander a lot towards the RFC 1436 and truly compatible, easily portable content consuming ...

Anyway, keep up the good work Dmitriy and thanks for the insight!

Well, then play to your strengths.

Will do, Sir, will do!

I agree with Roderick; if Otter is actually a better choice, then maybe it is worth a look.

Just to clear that I didn't say "Drop everything and change!", just mentioned this one since it seems rather good as is. I have no idea about what difficulties there might be porting it and developing it. I'm no developer.

Why I mentioned Haiku-OS was to reply this "nay saying" apparently without experience and support for the claim. It's up to those who are actually doing things to decide what and what not use and do, right?

Everyone is entitled to have their opinions, of course. I don't have, since mine would be irrelevant, since I'm not actually doing things.

Otter looks promising but the development even in Windows and Linux is very slow. FalKon is more stable.

Some how Haiku-OS guys have managed to make it work on Haiku-OS ...

*gg* the [ ] around the Click me link were intentional. Usually I do these as they should "simulate" a button.

Nothing wrong with the [] ...

http://"https:// just ain't correct way to start URL.

Business card CD's are still a thing

Oh my! I though we have evolved from these kind of thingies ... but apparently not.

Btw.. anybody know what THIS is?

....

Question is also... due to the weird form "factor" of that CD.... is it safe to put that into a production drive? ; )

Those shaped CD-ROMs were "a thing" in the 90's, buy luckily not for long. Their compatibility with drives were limited to those that one pushed disc to the spindle (mostly portable ones). Some discs would have worked in normal ones if the design of the disc was made so it centered the disc correctly.

Business cards and whatnot shapes were around. Fortunately this madness didn't last long. Some bands released some music on these, but mostly just novelty items that were not meant for use :D

Looking at the leaflet one deducts it was some kind of software pack, no idea what ...

Your hyperlink is invalid ... you can see there are extra stuff around the URL.

Correct one would be:

Ah!

Term brings into mind, TERM environmental variable, terminal emulation etc. for the Unix mind. But about the same. I was thinking while I'm testing things I might as well go directly for Ã…siftp or something like that what was on the list at Hobbes.

I'll just have to install first. Probably tomorrow or so ...

I assume that Netdrive is supposed to mount your Psion as a drive and it is not correctly mounting.
Wonder what would happen if you used a term program to try to connect?

This is getting so interesting, that I must move ArcaOS install a bit higher on my todo list :) I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "if you used a term program to try to connect?"

There's also http://www.littlespikeyland.com/psionlink/ that I assume would work.

Bookmarked for the rather last resort. I'm no fan of javanything.

Anyway I would rather see this to work with the Netdrive and plugin or other native way. But we will see how this spans out!

Thanks for the link. Somehow this hasn't come up in my searches.

I:\>help 21

SYS0021: The drive is not ready.

EXPLANATION: One of the following errors occurred:
o  The drive is empty.
o  The drive door is open.
o  The drive is in use.

ACTION: Do one of the following and retry the command:
o  Insert a diskette in the drive.
o  Close the drive door.
o  Wait until the drive is available.

Interesting ... Then why on same laptop with Win XP install I can connect with PsiWin with completely same procedure?

This does not compute.

Everything works. Cable and all with PsiWin for example ... so it's only this Netdrive/Plugin that ain't dance with us. But I have to install my ArcaOS again first to this bigge HDD I put into my laptop.

AFAIK there is no change in hardware but cannot remember from top of my head and have other things at the moment than searching for this. More memory or something by default, something like this.

And 115200 baud works fine.

Still I cannot find anything on "Error 21" ... would be nice to know what this is.

Anyone got working E-Mail address for Andrei? :D

I don't know if Privacy Badger runs with our browsers, but it's definitivly a good addition for the list of suggested (or better: must have) extensions.

This I don't know. But since talk was there I thought to mention it. Also FF multi containers addon is on of those what I usually recommend to people who are asking for some privacy and security tips and are not so tech savvy.

I don't think I can use any other browser after I got used to that little beauty! Makes life so much easier with all the different accounts and whatnots!
