 Paul,

Yes, never tried that before, but is does load here too. Soon as I try to play a video from the front page though it silently exits with a lot of 'can't write to disk' errors in the console.

Good luck with your presentation - don't have any specific questions, but would be good if you can outline what you have done and what needs to be done and their priorities. Also any help you could use...

 Dave,

That's too bad about gomp. I get 21-25 fps on the example you posted. Weird about the optimizations...

 Dave!

Thanks for giving PortableGL a try... the example you posted works well here - very smooth render. Hope you can get a gomp version working too...can't believe you got something so fast!

There is a project: https://github.com/rswinkle/PortableGL that might be the easiest route to some kind of 3D library because it is designed to be portable and is being continuously worked on...

Thanks again Dave! No change in behavior though... only works in root of website. I'll probably make a comment to textbrowser... didn't want to do it if there might have already been a fix.

 Hey Dave,

I went to textbrowser's github site to make a comment about this, and I saw an entry was made to the Dooble code yesterday that might affect this - did you include the last entry to Dooble in your build?

 Hey Dave,

Ah.. I added that line to my 'Environment' tab, then loaded 'www.os2.org' and clicked on the translate tool, and indeed, translation works and I can navigate the site thru the google translation page - thanks for that!

What I was doing before (using your script) was going to www.os2.org, then clicking on a forum, then clicking the translate tool, and getting the error mentioned - and in fact if I do that with the environment variable set as above it does the same thing.

So is there some deficiency in the translate environment variable? Why does it only work on the root of the website I wonder? Can you verify?

Regards,

EDIT: just tried it in SeaMonkey and it works fine there - no matter where you are in os2.org, if you choose translate, it works...

Thanks Dave! I gave it a quick try after using your 'sh' script and the 'translate page' appears in the tools list, but I couldn't get it to work at os2.org (which is what made me think to ask in the first place). I get a message saying the topic can't be found - so maybe a problem with the GOOGLE_TRANSLATE_URL? I'll give it a more thorough test later today after work.

Why do we need that script? Is that something that can be built in? If I don't use it the translate page tool is greyed out. Maybe I can add stuff to the 'Environment' tab in the properties folder?...

 Hi Paul,

My system is based on an Intel i5-9600K CPU and 16GB of RAM, with NVMe drive. I'll attach a testlog file. My symptoms now with your latest 6.2.6 webengine is identical to back then - if I go directly to a youtube video (via a google search) it works, but if I go to www.youtube.com it exits..

Regards,.

 Hey Paul,

I reviewed this thread and back in the early March time frame you were having the exact same YouTube hang issues with ver 6.3 (and earlier with 6.2). Around reply #215 you posted a version of the webengine that you said had all AVX code disabled and then YouTube started working. I wonder if some AVX code has crept back in somehow in the meantime?

Paul,

It happens just loading YouTube, before it even finishes rendering...

Hey Paul,

This one didn't seem to make any difference - examples on the test site play, but YouTube crashes. Trap log attached...

« on: November 12, 2023, 03:56:02 am »
 Dave,

The player is region 1, as are all my disks. It was originally unlocked, and didn't work then either. KoMH suggested to change it to a region, but that obviously didn't help.

Hey Dave,

MPlayer doesn't work either with encrypted disks here, but unencrypted work fine (CD's and DVD's, not Blu-Ray). In VLC I get this message in the messages window when trying to open an encrypted DVD disc:

dvdnav info: DVD Title: SLAUGHTER
dvdnav info: DVD Serial Number: 306f9d55
dvdnav info: DVD Title (Alternative):
dvdnav info: DVD disk reports itself with Region mask 0x00fe0000. Regions: 01
dvdnav info: Attempting to retrieve all CSS keys
dvdnav info: This can take a _long_ time, please be patient

and it sits forever (well, about an hour before I close it). It seems it doesn't get the 'CSS keys'. No idea where they come from...

 BTW - I'm using a newer version 3.0.20: https://github.com/komh/vlc-os2/releases/tag/3.0.20

Thanks Dave, I kinda thought that might be the case for Blu-Ray. There is no \Home\.dvdcss directory - maybe I'll try adding it. Do you have a video card, or use the embedded video in the processor? SNAP or Panorama? How about do you use OS2AHCI for the DVD drive? Looking for what may be different here...
