Applications / AcpiDaemon start
« on: January 26, 2024, 11:56:23 pm »
I have clarified an interesting pattern.
After moving acpidaemon in Startup.cmd
Code: [Select]
detach acpidaemon.exe, the system has never been hanging when loading.
At the same time, when the demon started in the config - at the first launch of Villo in 80% of cases, during a reboot of another 10%.
Also, loading without detection of the mouse ceased to occur (USB start error).
Such errors at starting regularly occurred. The system is loaded, but the USB does not function.

I use mainly OS4 core.

Hi!
No sound. I'm using the driver from Lars Erdmann:10.248#@OS/2 USB Audio 2.0 Device Driver
Any ideas on howto to fix it?

Hardware / Problem usbdrv248 - 10.248
« on: May 10, 2023, 02:09:27 pm »
Hi!

First of all, I want to thank Lars Erdmann for working on the drivers.
The driver version 248 freezes at boot.
I have a non-standard configuration of hardware and software.
I have a USB floppy drive installed permanently connected inside the computer case.
Thus, it is always connected to USB at the time of booting the system.
I also use AN drivers to use USB3. But I use USBMSD from Lars Erdmann to access the floppy drive.
I have two wishes:
1. If possible, make USBMSD support USBXHCD.
2. Version 248 I have when booting accesses the drive and freezes. Perhaps because the drive is empty. I would be glad if you fix it.

I came across the fact that in the executable file a large amount of space is occupied by textual information of about this type:
Code: [Select]
C:/usr/bin/../lib/gcc/i686-pc-os2-emx/9/../../../crt0.o

What keys does the compiler need to set so that this information is not added to?
Now I use such a command file:
Code: [Select]

Hardware / USB32 USBMSD problem of re-read diskette
« on: January 21, 2023, 02:43:35 pm »
The problem is partially solved by replacing the USBMSD driver with a similar one of the 16-bit version. At the same time, USB2 disk2 work and do not operate USB3 discs.
Provided to replace the diskette in the drive is determined and re-read correctly and all functions also work correctly - recording, reading, formatting, which unambiguously indicates a problem in the USBMSD driver from AN.
To my regret, AN, after my appeal, did not show interest in solving the problem, despite the ticket issued according to their requirements. They referred to the fact that everything works for them.

The system is successfully loaded.
I get a report:

However, the drive letter in the system is not assigned and contact the device cannot be applied.

What can be done to get a drive letter in the system?
According to my memories, once a long time, this device worked in the OS / 2 system.

This is a version of ffmpeg compiled with AVX support and correct alignment. When launched with the OS / 4 kernel, it takes advantage of the AVX instructions of modern processors.

Version 12.07 looks much better. However, the problem with the quality of USB sound has not been fully resolved.
The new version does not lose data anymore, but the sound is choppy. It's like listening to a clipped vinyl record with clicks. Obviously, by the time the playback of the data packet is completed, the next one does not have time to arrive.
Most likely this is a problem in the ECHI driver that they tried to solve. I advise developers to rely on the experience of the 16-bit version. These problems are not there...
