... en-US, I think that It did not fail for this....
This does not work, I have verified it by returning to a previous version and that is not it.
But another nonsense has occurred to me. I have to try it.

The libc panic that you showed occurs when using pthread 0.2.3-1 in combination with a non-US locale.
It does not  happen when using pthread 0.2.2-1 or the fixed version 0.2.4-1.

Which version are you using? Use yum list pthread to find out.

If you want to read more, look here:

https://github.com/bitwiseworks/pthread-os2/issues/11

That is where my limited knowledge comes from.

It caught my attention because it worked for me in one team and not in another. They both had the language SET LANG = es_ES_EURO in confyg.sys. The difference was that the laptop had in the local configuration, in Cuntry Pallete, a second language en-US, I think that It did not fail for this.

In my case all the packages that I want to update are not updated, with anpm. I have also tried yum and these are the results:

and then try again yum install libpsl (although you already seem to have installed libpsl, so it should rather be yum update libpsl).

If setting this environment variable helps, you probably don't have pthread 0.2.4-1 installed but an older version. In that case yum update pthread will fix that libc panic. The reason is your non-US locale setting.

Yes, (after I SET LANG=en_US or yum crash in libc until they fix it) but libicu-legacy does nothing.

The crash has been fixed (see https://github.com/bitwiseworks/pthread-os2/issues/11 and https://github.com/bitwiseworks/pthread-os2/issues/12)  and pthread 0.2.4-1 can be found in the Netlabs experimental repository.

The only package that cause me problems is libicu in combination with OpenOffice 4.1.7, that use something available in libicu 56.2 and earlier that doesn't exist (or behave differently/use other function parameters/...) in libicu 65.x and the new 68.x. One could install libicu 68.x and harvest those files and copy them to the simplebrowser folder.
Downgrade to libicu 56.2 and from that run OpenOffice and the browser without switching library.
There's however no instruction where to report such findings... so I'll keep my mouth shut, unless someone can tell me where to report it and how.

Have you tried yum install libicu-legacy ?

VIRTUALADDRESSLIMIT=3072 did had an effect. Now I get also a "bus error" message.

To come to this point, I had to run through the "YUM hell". It would be so much easier, if there would be an YUM cmd script where all dependencies are checked and installed.
My readme.txt has only 872 bytes (21-1-5) and has not the information which has been quoted here. It seems there is are different ones.

You have downloaded the file qtwebtest5_4.7z from Netlabs. The later file qtwebtest5_4_pub.7z contains the updated version of readme.txt (only readme.txt is updated - the rest of the files is the same as in qtwebtest5_4.7z).
Two typos in the updated readme.txt: there is no run.cmd (use sh run.sh instead) and in step 5 package libxlst should be libxslt.

This is not simplebrowser.log, but again simplebrowser-check.log ;) So it doesn't give extra information.
Maybe updating your installed version of libcx will already solve your problem.

Dave is right: you probably don't have the correct version of libcx installed. Required is version 0.6.9-2 from the Netlabs experimental repository. You can check which version you have installed by running

Code: [Select]
yum list installed libcx

Changing VirtualAddressLimit had no effect.

First start an OS/2  command prompt and change to the directory that contains simplebrowser.exe. Then execute

Code: [Select]
sh run-check.sh
That creates a file named simplebrowser-check.log. Post or attach that file.

Second execute

Code: [Select]
sh cleanup-caches.sh
from the same directory. That clears your browser cache and cookies. After that start the browser by executing

Code: [Select]
sh run.sh
in the same directory. That creates a file named simplebrowser.log. Also post or attach that file, after you have closed the browser again (otherwise its file size is zero).

hopefully there is also a ffmpeg_llegacy_libs or such package to also install.

The name of the legacy package is ffmpeg-legacy-56-2.8.6-2.oc00.L.i686,rpm

SYS1804: The system cannot find the file KAI1.

That means you don't have libkai-2.0.0-1 installed. Older versions of libkai only contained kai0.dll .

[D:\HOME\Downloads\qtwebtest5_4_pub]highmem -c *.dll
Processing module : Qt5Core.dll  MODIFIED
Processing module : Qt5WebC.dll                        >==MODIFIED???
Processing module : Qt5WebH.dll  MODIFIED
Processing module : Qt5WebW.dll  MODIFIED

I had the same situation. Try rebooting, and after that use highmem *only* on qt5webc.dll:

Code: [Select]
cd \home\downloads\qtwebtest5_4pub
highmem -c qt5webc.dll

That worked for me.

Hi there
In the personal notebook it works for me with its limitations. But when trying at work, the program does not start. I am attaching the file simplebrowser-check.log Some dlls are not loaded.

From your log:

Code: [Select]
Unable to load DLL 'Qt5WebW'.  DosLoadModule returned: 2
OS/2 reports 'AVUTIL56' contributed to the failure.

avutil56.dll is part of ffmpeg-libs 4.2.2-3, which is a prerequisite for the browser (the older version ffmpeg-libs 2.8.6-2 contains avutil54.dll).

Also from your log:

Code: [Select]
Loading DLL 'Qt5WebC' --> NOT loaded!
Unable to load DLL 'Qt5WebC'.  DosLoadModule returned: 2
OS/2 reports 'AVUTIL56' contributed to the failure.

Same reason: avutil56.dll.

So far this browser test is a complete failure here . I am presuming that I am meant to start it using the run.sh file in a bash window (in the absence of the run.cmd mentioned in the readme) but entering run causes the window to disappear then reappear and creates an empty log.

Start it by typing

Code: [Select]
sh run.sh
You can use the OS/2 command prompt for that - no need to start a specific shell.

If you want to check if you have all necessary support files installed, type

Code: [Select]
sh run-check.sh
That produces a text file named simplebrowser-check.log, that might contain a clue.
