« Last post by Andreas Schnellbacher on August 12, 2022, 11:02:35 pm »
This is a reposting of my message to AN Testers from today.

Code: [Select]
epm: {0}[I:\Download\sysutil\diskio] diskio
DISKIO - Fixed Disk Benchmark, Version 1.20
(C) 1994-1998 Kai Uwe Rommel
(C) 2004 madded2

    2020 Dariusz Piatkowski

Number of fixed disks: 9
Number of CD-ROM drives: 1

Dhrystone 2.1 C benchmark routines (C) 1988 Reinhold P. Weicker
Dhrystone benchmark for this CPU: 5716722 runs/sec

Hard disk 1: 255 sides, 29185 cylinders, 63 sectors per track = 228934 MB
Drive cache/bus transfer rate: 106195 k/sec

Data transfer rate on cylinder 0   : 146183 k/sec

Data transfer rate on cylinder 29183: 191315 k/sec

CPU usage by full speed disk transfers: 11%

Average latency time: 0.1 ms

Average data access time: Disk read error.
Multithreaded disk I/O (4 threads):
 133148 k/sec, 9% CPU usage

Hard disk 2: 12 sides, 512 cylinders, 9 sectors per track = 27 MB
Drive cache/bus transfer rate: Disk read error.
Data transfer rate on cylinder 0   : Disk read error.
Data transfer rate on cylinder 510 : Disk read error.
CPU usage by full speed disk transfers: Disk read error.
Average latency time: Disk read error.
Average data access time: Disk read error.
Multithreaded disk I/O (4 threads):
SYS1808:
The process has stopped.  The software diagnostic
code (exception code) is  009B.

epm: {99}[I:\Download\sysutil\diskio]
Hard disk 1 is a relative old SSD: A (partly faulty) Kingston
SKC 300 S37A (240 GB).
Haven't tried with the faster Samsung 860 EVO (500 GB) so far.

Hard disk 2 doesn't exist.

This seems to give better values for SSDs than Sysbench.

Hi Albert, welcome to the forum

I don't have that program, but I just want to give more details, just in case someone else can help.

Is it XactPro by SciLab GmbH (Germany) ?? Or it is a different XAct?

Regards

Good. I had checked the excellent Glassman software. It is update in hobbes with the exception of:
- DOSIdle :  Don't know what it does and where to put it.
- CCDoc :  Don't know what it does and where to put it.

Good idea. I just remember that many netlabs.org apps are not on Hobbes. Another group is Paul's apps and tools. In the past we had extra files from Japanese sites. Now there are Russian sites that host apps not on Hobbes, e.g. Glassman's Object REXX.

Nothing specific so far, but there are many.

Hi

While I keep going reorganising the /os2/util directory, I will like to go in parallel with the next phase, which is including missing software on hobbes.

I need feedback to know which freeware/shareware/opensource software I'm missing on /os2/apps.
The idea will be to have on hobbes the latest version of each software for OS/2.

So, if you see text editors, Engineering software, calculators, etc, that is missing hobbes, just post it here so I can upload it.

Networking / Re: WIFI on Dell Latitude D610
« Last post by Andreas Schnellbacher on August 11, 2022, 01:16:55 pm »
Put the wireless on interface lan1 and it may work. Apparently you try to set both the cabled and the wireless nodes to lan0.

Don't remember where to configure that, but that's the usual configuration for LAN and WiFi simultaneously. Posting the not-working \mptn\bin\setup.cmd would have put more light on this.

It is possible to completely disable a previous configuration in setup.cmd, including lan0 and lan1, without a boot. To do that, execute:

Code: [Select]
dhcpmon -t
route -f
ifconfig lan0 down
ifconfig lan0 delete
ifconfig lan1 down
ifconfig lan1 delete

After that, you can verify that ...

... dhcpmon is terminated by starting a process viewer, e.g. top.

... the default route is deleted.
Code: [Select]
route -n get default

... both interfaces are set to default values:
Code: [Select]
ifconfig lan0
ifconfig lan1

Just compare the output to that from before.

Hi again

So, after a fresh installation of ArcaOS 5.0.7 with both the  Broadcom BCM and GenMac Wrapper Intel WLAN 2200 network adaptators set-up, there are some improvements on the wlan side... but it still does not work.

On the side of improvements, now I can
- Enable Radio
- Scan for hotspots and select a hotspot

On the side of issues
- When enabling the Radio, I get a warning message complaining that

Quote
The TCP/IP address assigned to the interface of the Wireless LAN device concflicts with the address assigned to interface lan0.
Press Yes to disable interface lan0, No to annul the configuration of the interface of the Wireless LAN device
- If I select Yes, then the wired LAN is desactivated, and the wirless activated.
- In the XCenter widget, the "Scan for Connection" remains disabled, preventing me to connect to my wireless box.
- In the XCenter, only the "Public hotspot is available" where I can scan for hotspots (but these are not wireless lan)
- No internet connection is possible.

I have attached the report from TESTLOG.EXE 3.5

Thank you for your help!
