I couldn't find that file anywhere.
As I remember I was able to install from disk 1 and I have installed bit by bit programs from Disk 2 and 3.
I am giving up on this i will continue with a plain dos emulater.

Ecomstation 1is what I have. FPWorks came off the Ecomstation disks. Because I have misplaced/lost the ecomstation install key a can't do a full install. I have been able to to install Lotus and Staroffice So I have Office applications. I can access a website through Staroffice I think tcpip works but no websites actually work so I think the browser is outdated.
Once again I cant install an updated browser to test that.
It looks like I am going to be using DOS primarily.

I dont use newer hardware. I use an old 486, as Bill Gates said "no ones needs more then 640k. I agree the rest is just decoration and sloppy programing. If you read all my posts in this thread. I can't do icons and pictures very well.
So I don't need all that stuff. I just need an o/s that will let me do what i need to do.

I use Linux some but it is a mess. Unreliable and unnecessarily fussy.
It appears that Arce Noe is nothing but unix or linux with a glued on desktop I am not going to bother with something that is one large Kludge and a deliberately over complicated. It may be good as a server but a PITA as a desktop device.

Let me be a little more clear.
I am using virtual box to run os/2. I have no easy way to pass things to OS/2. I essentially convert files and installers to .iso's which I open with the OS/2 cd drive and then copy to the virtual Hard drives.
With installers I then try to execute them.
There in lies the problem. In the case of "FootPrint Works" it displays a dialogue box asking where the installation of FPW is. The problem is it hasn't been installed yet.
Core of my problem is this.
I am an old person, pushing 80 and started with personal computer in the 1980's. I have deteriorated physically to the point that in order to continue with computers, my window on the world, I needed to make some changes.
I cannot see very well and have cognitive that make Icons useless to me.
I have settled on DOS and OS/2. DOS because it is text based and therefore I can type in the name of a programs, I use DOSBOX for that and thought about OS/2 because as I remember I can adjust the font and type face for individual icons.
I don't want to bore you anymore. But I would like to get something working, and hope someone to help with that.

Hi. As background I have been using OS/2 since OS/2 for Windows.
I would like to start using it again. I have installed it from ecomstation version 1.1 CD's. That worked OK.
However, I no longer have the Installation code due to time and inability to get any one from Ecommstation to contact me.
So I am stuck with a version of ecomstation that works but Some programs from the cd and Hobbes don't install or work.
I would like to have help with getting programs installed and getting on-line.
Any help that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

I put money into three or four versions of OS/2 and one version of ecommstation. I love the basic OS/2 interface and the way it works.
ecommstation wasn't an upgrade. it was os/2 with a lot of crap thrown in. I decided I would not throw any more time or money down that hole.
I have tried Linux and find it wanting. the underlying operating system is ok but overly complex and things (files) are scattered everywhere. trying to repair a problem is a mess.
I have about 50% of the time installed programs and the don't run.
The desktops change with every upgrade and the settings are lost...I don't consider the desktop to be stable. The thing locks up or crashes quite often the O/S still seems to be running but you can't cleanly get to it and restart it. So I am done with that. and trying to make broken things work.
So here I am almost 80 with bad vision and some cognitive difficulties , I cannot understand icons so they don't do me any good.
So I am trying to set up a character based desktop.
So I am running on a 10 year old Mac with a lighted keyboard. I don't use the Mac apps much the are too dumbed down to be useful and their cuteness is useless.

Thanks for your help I did get mozilla up and running. The mail client doesn't like SSL much, but life moves on maybe FTP will work better.

I used to have an ongoing love affair going back "os/2 for Windows". I stopped using it with eComstation 1x as it cost a lot of money but I found it was a money sponge. Always an upgrade that didn't help but increased to problems that existed.
So here I back with my memory but lack of cognative abilities.
I read about eComstation and lurked around there for years but never saw anything that indicated progress.
I heard about Arca Noae, I looked through the boards, but it seemed like Linux with OS/2 on top.
I am running away Linux, used it for a few years years but it is a rapidly approaching disaster it appears to me to be Macos in dirty clothes. A bad files system with a pretty desktop. That doesn't suit me very well.
So here I am with an old copy of OS/2 4.52 up and running in a virtual machine. It runs find

I tried to get Seamonkey running. I can't do that.

Got that solved discovered how to make a legal iso file on a Mac.
But, it seems, one step forward equals one step. I have lost the "Drives" object. Using the CLI the D: drive is there and all the file are correct.
Any ideas how to correct the missing object.

The critical part Is generally I can't get anything from outside the VM to inside. So at this point I am stuck and can't go on.
If I had the capability of setting up some way of getting things back and and forth I could press on.
