General Discussion / Re: Audio/Video Streaming for Events
« on: November 01, 2014, 11:42:24 am »
I did not test eCS flash but what definitely does not work is ustream with my BlackBerry PlayBook. Ustream says flash is not up to date and do not let me see anything. But Adobe says it is. Needless to say that I trust Adobe more than ustream in that case.

Hardware / Re: Motherboard woes
« on: November 01, 2014, 11:40:05 am »
I'm looking for a new board too. First thought it will be a MSI H87-G43 as my current MSI works well. But now I think I'll buy an Asus H87-PRO. Unfortunately it will take some weeks till I can say anything about eCS on it.

Doug, so next best option I see would be disconnecting that thing. Unfortunately this needs disassembling the hardware. Usually it is (was) quite easy with older Thinkpads but sorry no clue who easy it is with your new model.

Whoever invented touchpads should be compelled to use Windows Vista, for the rest of eternity.
Sounds to me like an adequate punishment :-)

I only wonder why it is not able to disable the touchpad in OS/2. No possibility to disable PS/2? Or is it attached via USB and are there no options for usbhid? I do not suffer from this problem as my T4x have the option to disable in BIOS so can not test myself.

Martin, will you discuss this

- will he allow developers like me to work on SNAP source code as Mensys has bought the rights to do so?
with Menso face to face. Maybe Mensys can transfer the SNAP license for source code to Lewis Arca Noae. As Mensys obviously does not and did not anything with the source code it seems Arca Noae can manage this topic better.

We really need better graphic support and extending SNAP seems to be the easiest way to get them.

Compaq cloned the IBM PC Bios (in contrary to other PC makers which more or less illegally copied it) and IBM could do nothing against it.

Questions to Menso de Jong -
- is there any update in the last 3/4 year which justify the money I spent for eCS Software Subscription?
- is there any update we can expect within the next 3 months?
- will he give me back my money as obviously there is no activity from Mensys in improving eCS since a year or so?
- will he allow developers like me to work on SNAP source code as Mensys has bought the rights to do so?
- will Mensys ask IBM to make available the 14.106 SMP debug kernel.

Applications / Re: Edit pdf files
« on: October 14, 2014, 12:32:33 pm »
Foxit Reader is free and can annotate text and draw and highlight and .... too. Unfortunately only Win. Same with PDFXEdit.

Never tried QPDFview for annotation anything. Not even find a way do to that. For viewing pdf it's okay. Although for some documents rather slow compared to Win/Foxit (takes ages to zoom in/out compared to Foxit/Win).

Lucide and guess QPDFView can fill in predefined fields. But that's not what Per E. needs unfortunately.

Applications / Re: Heavy issues with PSI/2
« on: September 24, 2014, 11:11:54 am »
PSI works here without hanging the WPS. Although I do not use it very much it never hang the WPS. Beside the sigfpe bug (PSI crashes) I opened a ticket for it works.

I usually switch off all audio notifications from OS and applications as I do not like this constant noise from computers. Maybe that's a difference.

Applications / Re: Audacity with Odin? Other usable Audio wav (mp3) Editor?
« on: September 24, 2014, 11:07:37 am »
For Win-OS2 I've Digital Orchestrator. But this is bound to my Turtle Beach Pinnacle sound card which is ISA. Although I've an old box with ISA slots I do not use it since a long time.

Currently I only need a GUI tool for cutting .wav and maybe .mp3 (fade in/out). No, I don't wanna play with cli programs and half backed rexx scripts anymore. Normalize would be fine too.

AFAIR Ceres Sound Studio crashed that often that it was unusable on my current system. But it's a long time since I tested. There are other wave tools but none of them seemed worth to remember for me.

I played a bit with Audacity on Win and for the simple things I did (f.i. sample accurate copy/paste) it works well and intuitive enough. I also seem to remember someone got some version running on OS/2. But maybe I'm wrong with that.

These are from Alps but could not be delivered from any channel I know :( I even know the part numbers as I do have the service manual. Best offer I got was for the volume control for a horrible price but without a new input selector it's not of much use.

Cool you repair such Yamahas. The are definetely worth to repair. Although i wonder such 'new' devices even fail :) To bad i can't find new volume and input selectors for my DSP-A3080. Do you have any source?

set PROCESSES...
From my tests I saw PROCESSES was always set to the value of THREADS+1. With current THREADS=512 Theseus says QSV_MAXPROCESSES = 513.
