If something was not public on it's time because IBM copyright was on it, I can take a chance and ask the IBM lawyers to authorize the republishing since now it is obsolete documentation. I had good results with some old books and courseware.

Please check your basements, libraries, attic, if you have some of this, or something else please contact me.

Hi.

I just from IBM Permission to republish on the EDM/2 Wiki and the OS2World Wiki these documents:

Control Program Programming Guide and Reference
    GPI Guide and Reference
Presentation Manager Programming Guide and Reference
    System Object Model Programming Guide
    System Object Model Programming Reference
    Workplace Shell Programming Reference
    Workplace Shell Programming Guide

Even that is not a great breakthrough because it is already online it is good to have it legally available as a backup. I will put it in several formats (PDF, DOCX, ODT and INF) in the next days.

I'm still looking for the more difficult material to find, any OS/2 IBM Courseware (posted before). If anybody found some of this, please let me know to scan it and request formal permission to republish it.

The courseware I was able to find (two courses / OS/2 Warp Server for e-business and OS/2 2.1 for Software Developers) has already been published on the OS2World Wiki with permission (http://www.edm2.com/index.php/IBM).

Thanks to IBM and the guy that did all the scanning :)

Please, I'm still looking for more "courseware material" listed on the first post. If you find any, please let me know.

I got permission from IBM to republish this material on the OS2World Wiki, EDM and Internet Archive. I know it is not "hard to find material" but it is good to have the formal permission to have it posted on the web.

I will be posting it on the Internet Archive in the next days.  Please keep checking your basements for more hard to find OS/2 documentation.

Hi.

Yesterday I got permission from IBM to republish the articles from the "Personal Systems Magazine" that was stored online. (reference (http://"https://web.archive.org/web/19980120005432/http://pscc.dfw.ibm.com:80/psmag/bi.htm")). The only difference on this permission is that IBM can not be 100% sure they own the copyrights of it, so they agreed to be republished if belongs to IBM, but in case someone complains I will need to take down the article.

I will be splitting the articles between the OS2World Wiki and EDM/2 (if the article is development related), but I will start first by organizing the articles on this page: "Personal Systems Magazine (http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Personal_Systems_Magazine)"

But I have a little problem here, I was only able to find the "online articles" so I'm missing several articles of the printed edition. If someone has a copy of the printed magazines, please scan it or send it to me so I can ask permission to republish the complete issue.

Let's keep working little by little to have as much as possible OS/2 documentation online !!!

Regards

Hi

I just finished the republishing of the "Personal Systems Magazine (http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Personal_Systems_Magazine#January.2FFebruary_1996)" to the wiki. I was only able to republish the articles from the old web site, please if you have any of those printed magazines please let me know.

Hi

Sometime ago I got permission to republish WarpOnline (non IBM). But I was only able to find one issue. (Volume 1, Issue 3 - June, 1996 - WOL0696.EXE )
That issue was republished at WarpOnline on the OS2World Wiki (http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/WarpOnline_Magazine)

If someone have these files:
- WOL1096.EXE
- WOL0496.EXE
- WOL0596.EXE
- WOL0696.EXE
- WOL0796.EXE

- WOL0896.EXE
Please let me know.

This is the archived source just in case. (http://web.archive.org/web/19961228023350/http://www.warponline.com:80/)

Hi

A few more books had disappear. Disappear? How? IBM removed from the Redbooks site and I didn't have a backup of those books and I can not find it on the web anymore. (Not on the Wayback machine also)

Checking the EDM/2 the following OS/2 related RedBooks and links are no longer available:

1)SG24-5245-00
VisualAge for Java Enterprise Version 2 Team Support - Sep 1998
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/SG245245.html
I found a draft from March 1998 (http://ftp://ftp.lotus.com/pub/lotusweb/product/devtools/redbook/SG245245.pdf), but I'm trying to find the one from Sep 1998.

2) SG24-5265-00
VisualAge for Java Enterprise Version 2: Data Access Beans - Servlets - CICS Connector
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/SG245265.html

If you find other Redbook from the "IBM OS/2 Warp Development Related Redbooks (http://www.edm2.com/index.php/IBM_OS/2_Warp_Development_Related_Redbooks)" wiki page that does not have a PDF/Download/View link, please write me back.

Hi

As an strike of luck I found "WOL0496.ZIP (http://annex.retroarchive.org/cdrom/pier-10se/036/index.html)" (Warp Online Issue 1 in English) and I had  include it to the wiki. (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/WarpOnline_Magazine)

I'm still missing:

Hi

I still have the naive dream of some day completing this page with all the downloadable content of IBM OS/2 Courseware and change all the "x" to "checks".
https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/IBM_OS/2_Courseware#Communication_Courseware (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/IBM_OS/2_Courseware#Communication_Courseware)

If you have or find any of this content, please let me know. Remember that I ask IBM for formal permission, but I need to find the content  first.

Hi

I had also completed the formality to have IBM's republishing permission for:

IBM Solution Developer Support (IBM External Submission #29315):

How to convert from 2.1 base video into 3.0 base video in order to take advantage of the monitor configuration feature of the 3.0 system icon
Device Drivers for OS/2 2.x are compatible with OS/2 Warp V3 and do not require additional modifications.
Driver Development Support Center's (DDSC) Cyber DUDE
    GRADD FAQ
    OS/2 keyboard translate table design
Developing NDIS LAN device drivers FAQ
How do I get started writing OS/2 device drivers
    OS/2 OO Books: A Roadmap
Video Playback - No Audio Bug
Some Watcom Compiler Tips from DUDE Users

DDK (IBM External Submission #29315):

Introduction to DASD, SCSI and CD-ROM Programming Interfases
Developer Guide for OS/2 for SMP Version 2.11
    OS/2 Resource Manager Architecture (1994)
    Device Driver FAQ
    OS/2 Hardware Compatibility List 1995
OS/2 & LAN Systems Development Tools Guide
New XGA Display Driver Entry Points
New VGA Display Driver Entry Points
Developer Connection DDK Transitional Questions and Answers
NDIS Implementation Information for IBM LAN Systems - OS/2 Messaging and National Language Support
INSTALLABLE FILE SYSTEMS FOR OS/2 VERSION 2.0
Sample Code Chunks, From a Device Driver

Links to the material on this EDM/2 wiki page (http://www.edm2.com/index.php/IBM_Publications#Links).

And also "The OS/2 Development Tools Guide - Spring 1993 (G326-0326-00) (http://www.edm2.com/index.php/The_OS/2_Development_Tools_Guide_-_Spring_1993)" (Permission #29210 )

I'm still looking for more IBM material (like couseware) to ask permission and make it public for everyone to read.
The work on EDM/2 is still going on, and moving forward to try to have all OS/2 development material consolidated there.

Hi

Just as a curious note, on this document ("IBM and Microsoft Software Newsletter. Statement of  Direction (https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/read/36882540/ibm-and-microsoft-software-newsletter-technology-and-trends)" / page 47) I found some other OS/2 education courses that IBM used to provide on 1989.

So, I included those on the IBM Courseware Wiki page (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/IBM_OS/2_Courseware#IBM_OS.2F2_Education_-_1989), hopefully if someone find some of this, we can scan it and I can request IBM permission to republish it for all of us.

Hi again.

I still don't loose the faith to find the educations material  of the  IBM Courseware Wiki page (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/IBM_OS/2_Courseware#IBM_OS.2F2_Education_-_1989), but for the moment I'm trying to find this documentation to ask IBM republishing permission:

-  SC26-4582-00: Common User Access: Advanced Interface Design Guide
-  SC26-4583-00: Common User Access: Basic Interface Design Guide (F29BDG00)
-  SC34-4289-00: Common User Access: Guide to User Interface Design
-  SC34-4290-00: Common User Access: Advanced Interface Design Reference
SC34-4399-00: Object-Oriented Interface Design (F29AL000)
-  IBM Corp.: Object-Oriented Interface Design: IBM Common User Access Guidelines - ISBN 1-56529-170-0

SC26-4583-00 and SC34-4399-00 used to be available online, but IBM took the bookmgr shelve site down. Wayback machine does not had those complete :_(

Hi Martin, very good work! My father used to obsessed with IBM documentations so if you are missing any other important documents I may take a look for you. He's keeping all of this stuff in his property in Cyprus (https://tranio.com/cyprus/) so just PM me the ones you need and as soon as I go there I will check them for you.

I was able to find again SC26-4583-00 and SC34-4399-00. Both are linked in .BOO format. I'm asking for permission to republish those just in case.  Here are the links again: http://www.edm2.com/index.php/CUA (http://www.edm2.com/index.php/CUA)

Hi Martin,
on Oct 22, 2017 you were looking for hard copies of Personal Systems Magazine.  Did you ever find those?  I have 9 random issues of that magazine from 1990, '91, '92, '93.  Also 2 issues of Personal Software from '94 and '95.

- IBM Personal Software Magazine (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/IBM_Personal_Software_Magazine)

There are some missing on the list, the ones that do not have links.

Can you please let me know which issues do you have, and check which one we don't have already digitized and online?
After that we can think what to do next.

Regards

OK, if I'm reading this right you already have all the Personal Systems mags I have.

I have two issues of Personal Software that don't seem to have links:
Issue I, 1994
Issue 2, 1995

Hi - I took several IBM Certifications and found a few things recently - here's the wayback machine which describes the exams I was lucky enough to take (for free) and when from an old OS/2 website I used to maintain:

https://web.archive.org/web/20040612073115/http://www.haynes97.freeserve.co.uk/exams.htm

There's some links in there to the sample IBM questions/answers too which don't work but give you the filename you can search for.  For example CERT94.ZIP can be found here:

http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/misc/

I also found my old New Riders OS/2 exam books that have a million memories for me - they were the ones I used to do my last minute revision with.

You got a mouse mat and a pin badge for passing exams that I have kept for 25 years - again, photos in the link.

Hope this brings back some good memories for someone.

Colin.

Thank you Colin.

You post helped me found some other test and links I was missing on the IBM Courseware Wiki page (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/IBM_OS/2_Courseware).

If by any chance do you have any printed material of that courses, please let me know, I can ask IBM permission to republish it.

I don't have any further training materials I'm afraid, but I've found some links for information regarding the exams which I don't believe you have.

Here's a link which gives you details on the Warp 4 Systems Expert detail:

https://web.archive.org/web/20000815084735/http://www.ibm.com/education/certify/certs/o2_index.phtml

Lots more Warp 3 and Warp Server detail on this link:

https://web.archive.org/web/20000815084636/http://www.ibm.com/education/certify/tests/index.phtml

Hope his helps.

Colin.

Hi

I got the scans and permission from IBM to republish the following:
- P1071 - Installing and Supporting OS2 2.1 - 1st Edition
- P1071 - Installing and Supporting OS2 2.1 - April 1994
- P1072 - OS2 2.1 Advanced Supported Workshop Course
- S7049 - Extended Services for OS2 Communication Manager - Student - Lab Notebook

I will be posting it on the next days on Archive.org and the OS2World wiki.

Thanks to all the people that are helping me backstage to get this "IBM Courseware" material to the public.

Hello

Everytime I go back to this thread I remember Alex Taylor's joke at some Warpstock....

"Don't ask what old men have in their basement... "   ;D ;D ;D

I'm only looking for OS/2 Courses material  ;D ;D

I still have the crazy dream to one day complete all the downloads of the  IBM OS/2 Courseware material (https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/IBM_OS/2_Courseware).

If you have one that I'm missing, let me know. Remember I can ask permission from IBM to republish it.
