Hi David.

I found the way to show the PNG icons on the "Tree View", but not on the "Details View". Is that a limitation of the "Dynamic Icons" or the Workplace Shell?

Hi
EDIT: the editor uemacs.exe needs to be run in a fullscreen window, even though it is marked as pmcompatible (we don't yet have a link option to change that).

Here (ArcaOS 5.1.0) it also runs in OS/2 cmd windowed mode. No problems with the keyboard there.

But when I run it in full screen, I made an Alt+Enter to kill the session, since I don't know how to exist uemacs, and after I killed the session I lost they keyboard input in the OS.

Hello

In DOS Window Session (ArcaOS 5.1.0) gives me:
Quote
C:\DESKTOP>pdptest
This program needs OS/2 2.0 or equivalent

Under OS/2 command line:
Quote
[C:\DESKTOP]pdptest
SYS0188: The operating system cannot run C:\DESKTOP\PDPTEST.EXE.

No OS hangs here.

Hello David.

I liked this one too. Just two question here:
1) What is the arrow.gfie file?
2) Checking the "Buff themes", do you also include the folder backgrounds? I think I only found the icons, not the backgrounds.

Hello kerravon

Does anyone have any idea what the philosophy here is? Is someone (ie Arca NOAE) trying to bullet-proof ArcaOS from rogue executables, or are there not enough resources such that it is only OS/2 bugs found when running technically correct programs that are fixed?
I don't think so, for what I know the way ArcaOS runs binaries is the same as OS/2 Warp 4.52. There is no way to sign binaries and have any other extra security.

Not that I understand much of your conversation, but I tried the executable on my ArcaOS 5.1.0 VM.
I have this message when I try to run it (Full screen and Windowed version).
Quote
[C:\HOME\MARTIN\Downloads\TEMP]pdptest
SYS0193: C:\HOME\MARTIN\DOWNLOADS\TEMP\PDPTEST.EXE cannot be run in a OS/2
session.

It looks to me that is not a OS/2 binary and it does not hang my system.

Secondly, the pure 32-bit allows me to write a mini-clone of OS/2 either as an app that runs under another OS (e.g. UC386L that runs under Linux) or as a standalone OS (PDOS/386). Both available from http://pdos.org - new version that implements DosDevIOCtl uploaded a couple of minutes ago.

Note that "mini clone" means that it runs *certain* OS/2 executables - basically just the ones that were built with PDPCLIB (see makefile.wat). So anything that is C90-compliant, or uses ANSI x3.64 "extensions" and has been built with PDPCLIB or equivalent (I doubt that there is anything equivalent currently, but there is no barrier to that).
I have interest to know what are you doing there. I don't know if you can share in a different forum thread what are you doing and what are your goals with your project.

Hello

What do you think it is needed for lSwitcher to also respect the XWP font sizes too?

I opened a ticket in case Gregg Young wants to take a look at it.

Hello Dave

On a related subject. Do you think you can inspect this open screen saver modules and see how hard or easy may be to turn it into DSS modules?

Just for fun, maybe something can look nice.

Hello

Any idea what is this Chinese 90's OS/2 software is about? I added a google translation of the readme, but I can not make it run (Gives a GDI error). I'm not sure if it is some kind of calendar or PIM ?

Hello

I just rebooted my system.   Looks like it required a reboot.

Good to know it is working.

In the case of "xsystray-0_1_1.wpi", when you install a xCenter plugin, it requires xCenter to restart.
Maybe that is why once you rebooted your machine, you were able to see the VNC icon on the xCenter.

Hello

I have this article on the wiki: https://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php?title=Prepare_the_FAT32_USB_Flash_Drive

Let me know if it is still valid, thanks for the Arca Noae link, I had added it there too.

Hello

Which OS/2 version are you using?

Like Neil said, VNC requires some extra DLLs, the easy way will be to install those are with ANPM.

FYI: When it runs, the VNC Server will show a little icon on the XCenter for you to manage it. (Picture attached).

Quote
1. You need RPM/YUM. Type command:

yum install libc libgcc1 openssl zlib pthread libjpeg libpng

or use Arca Noae Package Manager to install these packages.

2. It is recommended to use Extended System Tray Widget (by Dmik) for
   eCenter/XCenter with VNC Server:

       ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/qt4/xsystray/xsystray-0_1_1.wpi

or System Tray Widget ver. 0.3 (by ErOs2).

3. Install vnc.wpi WarpIn package. After installation, the folder "VNC" will
appear on the desktop. If component VNC Viewer was selected, the VNC Viewer
template appears in the list of system templates.

You had the same problem, how did you fix it?

Hello. I haven't fixed yet, I can not upload code from git.exe in ArcaOS.
In Windows I had been using Github Desktop to upload code and Github forced my account to have two-factor authentication (2FA) with a phone app (Microsoft Authenticator).

But I'm still struggling with git.exe under OS/2 and the tokens.
