Hi Mike, Do you have WarpIn installed?
-
Hi Mike, welcome to the forum.
.wpi files need to be open with WarpIn. The latest version is WarpIn 1.0.22 .
You can find it here: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/util/archiver/warpin-1-0-22.zip
But there are also a lot of other libraries that you need to install to make OpenOffice run (check the readme (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/143bou0jnu87mai/AAAa4G6ryCeZe83Wn71KVx7Ba?oref=e&n=81443916&preview=readme_aoo.txt)).
The easy way to get all that libraries is installing "Arca Noae Package Manager (https://www.arcanoae.com/resources/downloadables/)".
You can run this command after installing it:
"yum install libc libgcc1 libgcc-fwd openssl curl libjpeg libxslt libicu zlib libxml2 mmap pthread urpo libstdc++6 libstdc++"
Or use the "Arca Noae Package Manager" GUI to install those libraries.

Better take WarpIN 1.0.19 because newer versions will not install on fresh systems.

Thanks for the help!! I installed the warpin and then installed the arconoa package thing and I'm getting a message that says I have to install some libraries... I then tried to run the package manager and it wants to download a yum/rpm package management system. Unfortunately the thinkpad does not yet have a connection to the internet yet (no wireless driver) so I'm downloading and burning to cd and then moving over to the thinkpad. What file do I need now to get these libraries?
Again thanks for the help - appreciate it!

Does your e-mail provider allow zip files (gmail and several others don't)? If so I have a zip that I got from one of the news groups that I can send you.
-
It's easy to get around gmail's zip filter, just rename *.zip to *.ziq.
-
Hi Dave,
It can't be that simple - can it? It it is then what is the point of the filter in the first place?

Hi Dave,

It can be that simple. The whole point of the filter is to make people THINK Google is doing something to protect them from something bad. In fact. all they do is make it inconvenient for their users. Eventually, they will figure out that their trap is being bypassed, and then we will need to start using something like *.ZIR, until they figure that out.
Live with it. You can't fix stupid.

Send the zip or "zi?" to mike.mceachran@gmail.com
Thanks!

Got the DLL's (thanks again) and put them in the openoffice directory and added that directory to the path statement in config.sys. Reset the machine and tried installing the wpi again. It got stuck in the same place looking for the dll's in 2 specific directories. I didn't have time this morning to create those directories and move the dll's but is the app really hard coded to look for them there or do I have some other problem I'm not understanding?
-
Directories with dlls need to be listed in the libpath statement. But honestly I do not know which dlls you mean and which '2 specific directories'. Maybe it helps if you're a bit more specific about the error messages you get.
-
Mike, if memory serves we had the same problem which I fixed by using wpiview and using its extract function to extract aoo to a temp directory. Two zips on their way shortly.
-
Here is the error message I am getting trying to install open office (attached)
-
The simple answer is to download those two wpi archives and run warpin with them before you try to install aoo.
Since we already had those archives installed when we made the disk images for our client I just used the 'Extract' function to extract the files to a temp directory.

I am instaling in ecs22b2 with AOO-4120-GA-base-es.wpi, and with this packs:
libc libgcc1 libgcc-fwd openssl curl libjpeg libxslt libicu zlib libxml2 mmap pthread urpo libstdc++6 libstdc++
all are install ok.
and give me this error:
Return code : 2
Failing module: ICCUUC42
Any help?

I think this one, http://rpm.netlabs.org/release/00/zip/icu-4_2_1-1_oc00.zip (http://rpm.netlabs.org/release/00/zip/icu-4_2_1-1_oc00.zip)

Well thanks Dave, someone should modify the readme including:
libicu-legacy
All is ok now.
